Still the NES. 3/4 of the PS1 library has aged badly.

You think the NES aged better? lol no.

I can honestly answear this way.
Theres very few NES games I'd want to go back and play (because must of them didnt age well).
Theres tons of RPGs on the PS1 still worth a playthrough, and even the "big name" IPs of multiplats that had their starts there, are still worth play throughs.

The insane demand for the NES Classic that dragged on for years, and the fact that the Playstation Classic was getting price cuts within a month of its release and relegated to clearance bins shortly afterwards tells me that the general consensus is yes, the NES aged far better than the Playstation.

..

PS1 list with big name titles goes on and on.
Its debut was without a doubt bigger than the NES's.

NES was just the first. So in a historical sense, and what it ment for the industry its the biggest.
In terms of better games? the PS1.
(670-700 NES games vs 3100+ on the PS1, the NES had like 1-2 handfull of must own games, PS1 had much more)

"I think the best is.."

I think this question refers to the games? right.
Theres no question about the historical nature of the NES and its impact.
So the question is which had the better games?

Final Fantasy and all the wonderfull RPGs the PS1 had, def. makes it the winner.

Did you purposely leave The Legend of Zelda 1 & 2, Metroid, Castlevania 1-3, Tetris, Excitebike, Kung Fu, Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, Faxanadu, Blades of Steel, Tecmo Bowl & Super, Kid Icarus, Ghosts & Goblins, Batman, Duck Tales, Commando, Adventure Island 1-3, Iron Tank, Jackal, 1942 - 1943, Baseball Stars 1 & 2, Nobunaga's Ambition 1 & 2, Bionic Commando, Blaster Master, etc off of your NES list to make it seem like the NES had far fewer good games than the Playstation?

The NES wasn't Nintendo's first console so I will go with the PS1

If that Nintendo Pong machine counts then neither does Xbox since Microsoft had the MSX in Japan. Sony does not count either since they produced some models of the MSX. So the poll is entirely wrong. Should be Nintendo Color TV Game. MSX and MSX lol

The NES was so good it revived the console market in the US. The other ones had their road already paved by then.

Funny thing to say.

PS1 made gaming change in many ways, including making Europe as relevant as the then major regions.

PS1 was as much as a game changer, actually even more, than the NES.

No, not really. Gaming was healthy when PS1 launched. PS1 expanded what was there. NES took rubble of the remains of the industry and made it a 4 story building. PS1 added 6 more floors to an existing foundation that NES provided.

I'll take the NES. I couldn't stand the loading times on the PS1. The N64 was so much better for me. The Xbox ended up a Halo machine for me, and probably a lot of other people too. Fun, but one game can't stand up to whole libraries.

I felt like there was more to the Xbox than just Halo. It also had Halo 2. :P

In all seriousness though, I'd say Xbox definitely had a "whole library" of its own, and if I'm being honest, it's mostly my nostalgic love for the classic Crash and Spyro games that made me pick PS1 over it.

Some are trying to say NES was not Nintendo's first console. Well, Xbox was not MS's first either. MSX. They are the first to be really serious in the market and not target a niche one.

Definitely the NES since it shaped the entire industry. The PS1 I had used to crash all the time and the only games I was interested in were the Final Fantasys and the Resdent Evils, that's not enough for me.

As much as I love the NES, there's no question I have to go with the PS1 on this one. If only for FFVII alone...but then there's SOTN, Soul Reaver, MGS1, R4 (greatest racing game ever made), FFVIII, RE1 and RE2, Tekken 3, WipEout XL and Vagrant Story.

My fav game BY FAR on the NES was Ninja Gaiden 2...but you got Super Mario Bros 3, Contra, TMNT II and Double Dragon 3 which were my favs on the console.

Yeah, PS1 wins this by quite a landslide to be honest.
