Yet another 100k+ week for Beast Crossing . Great boosts for Clubhouse, MK8 (almost +50% wow) , Smash and Pokémon. Paper Mario TOK is holding really well. I'm guessing RFA had stock problems again.

Which week of Obon normally sells more hardware? The week of or the week before?

The Actual week

Two amazing weeks for Switch. PS4 barely saw a boost, it's really done in Japan. Clubhouse Games seems to want to hang around with the evergreens.

PS4 has had stock issues for a while. Sony does not mind.

nintendo has stock issues worldwide

amazon have Nintendo Switch for $390+

the gap between the old gen and new gen, with months in the absence, seems not good for a brand.

The's no stock because the is no demand in the region that's why it's been going on for a while.

Exactly, Sony basically did what MS is doing in NA which is switching production lines over to next gen.

I think most the PS4s are going abroad to where a lot more sales happen.

Or perhaps Sony is phasing out this model in time for a new PS4 model that will allow a lower price point.

Well, hardware numbers are pretty disappointing, I have to say. I was hoping for a huge boost in hardware for the actual Obon week. I guess Nintendo is having more trouble with demand than I thought.

Animal Crossing - What more can be said?

PS4 - It’s dying, Jim.

Another amazing week for the Switch and Animal Crossing. This game just keeps on going! What a beast!

Pocky Lover Boy!

Right now, Japan is:
- Having a huge economic slump
- Dealing with the significant increase in COVID cases

I think its incredible that the Switch is dominating the sales charts in these unprecedented circumstances, especially in Japan.
Not only that, but there are STILL shortages and lotteries. Even the popular RFA is having stock shortages.
The holidays will really be interesting and I do wonder how the PS5 will do once it releases this holiday against the Switch in Japan.

Incorrect analysis.

COVID has given gaming an incredible boost worldwide in all sectors. Nearly every gaming company is posting 50-100% gains. COVID has helped gaming rather than hamper it.
