My console is usually on standby mode by night and the controller there charging, when it is full charge the light on it turns off and then stop charging, I would guess it doesn't drain battery after that.

I don't use standby mode any more after I heard some people that got their systems wiped/bricked during power outages, but it turns off automatically when the controller is fully charged?

I usually charge my controller while I'm playing through a 5 meter USB extension cable. I can't recall having less battery after turning it off over night (except that one time), but I have seen it turn on with more battery life the next day, after turning it off when it was at 0 bars, and it had 1-2 bars the next day. But I think that's just a temporary inaccurate reading. Happens to my phone at times as well.

Then I don’t know, as far as I understood it the standby mode sets the system in standby for I think 4 hours (but it could be 3, doesn’t matter) during which time your controllers will charge if you plug them in. In any case if the bricking story is true then that’s also something that needs to be fixed.

Well the time it goes to standby without activity or shut-off from standby from what I know is decided by the user in the configuration

You could still have a life bar.

IIRC Nintendo came up with a patent for something that monitors your heart rate awhile back. Just combine that with it and you can use your current heart rate as the life bar.

Ingenious!!!!

That way when your heart rate drops and you lose a pulse the onscreen life bar hits 0.

The killer app the PS5 deserves.

Did you know that one of the functions of the light bar was to show your emotions by changing color, and that some games made use of the microphone, like Alien Isolation that if you make noise the Alien will hear and get you?

Could they have picked a dumber paint tool to use? Pro controllers are still the king for console controllers at 40 hours.

I think the WiiU Pro Controller has like 80 hours.

It does but it's not relevant anymore. It's a dead system. So right now Switch pro controller is best/ Tho Wii U controllers have no rumble or motion controls.

Actually neither is relevant since this isn`t a comparison thread.

Their has been talk of it lasting 12-14 hours right?

Thats long enough, if not, bring a cable and just keep it hooked up.

also this is part of why the dualshock uses more battery than the others:

Apparently it runs at a higher frequency updates and transmitions than alot of other controllers.
The upside is you get less delay, between button push and action noted by the console.
The downside is you drain the battery faster.

I'm sure these controllers use more power, but definitely not 75% more power.

And we don't know the differences in power efficiency too. Overall good news.

It is relevant when one sets a standard some are used to. I'm going to turn off all the bullshit in the DS so would be nice to get at least 20 hours.

Nope, it is as irrelevant as the other guy talking about Switch in a thread about this holiday launch between PS5 and XSX...

Should hopefully get a good 12-14 hours from a charge then... hopefully. I wish whatever wizards at valve made the steam controllers helped the console makers out. In my experience:

PS4 controller : 7-8 hours per charge
XBO Controller : 7-8 hours per pair of AA batteries
Joycons : 15-20 hours per charge
Steam Controller : 80+ hours per pair of AA batteries.

Yeah, controller batteries tend to last a long time when no one uses them to play games.

Yes, it is relevant. Battery life matters and I need to know what I am paying for esp compared to the competition. End of.
