He always preaches about experiences only possible on next gen and as pretty as the game looks by his own criteria it doesn’t fit his description.

It would probably be the same experiance, but the graphics would be worse.
You can see the lightning/shadows, and reflections are "new gen" worthy compaired to the PS4 version.
The textures on the suit look better too.

Is it just a better looking game than the PS4 version? yes.
Could it have run on the PS4 (and just looked worse)? yes.

But isnt this what new gens are? You get better looking games.
Very rarely is there stuff thats only possible (gameplay wise) via new hardware.

Mainly new gens are about getting bigger and better looking games.

Theres probably people that would argue, Halo 5, would be possible as a Xb360 game, just graphics cut back some.
Same as theres people that will claim gameplay wise, call of duty on the PS2, isnt drastically differnt in terms of gameplay on the PS4/Xb1.
What you cant argue, is that graphics havnt changed since.

True, gameplay in general hasn't changed that much. Hell, you could say BF1942 from 2002 has the same gameplay as BF5. What's changed over the years is a leap in immersion because of better graphics, which is also a new experience. We'll see about MM, but this looks like a pretty big leap in immersion to me.

Just to put a point Pema always bring, engines are brought over the previous one. It is incrementary, it doesn`t toss out the previous one. So you could make a next-gen game using the assets from 8th gen (like Gran Turismo had been doing models for next gen and then scalling it back to put into current gen). Not saying that is what Insomniac made here. And I can say this looks much better than what was on the show, but I still believe they could have made it work fine on PS4, there isn`t anything noticeable that couldn`t be scalled back or that would only work on PS5.

He’s already shifted the goal posts for this in response to what Sony or MS have done. Remember, Xbox needs to blow us away with experiences entirely not possible on last gen consoles. But HorizonFW is great because there was a non-gameplay trailer that showed you going underwater. Have you ever played a game that allowed you to go under water? I didn’t think so.

How many games have water this good looking though:

Idk, I’m sure there have been loads of non-gameplay trailers with great underwater graphics.

I'm not being unfair here man. Just tell me what MS has shown so far that gets you excited for next gen games?

The truth is, Series X is an impressive piece of kit and I want it to impress the hell out of me. Unfortunately, impressing us with next gen experiences just doesn't seem to fit into MS's GP strategy. Instead, we have a 12Tflops beast of a console where its flag ship title has turned into a meme.

Lets see how close it gets then, to the trailer, when it releases.
Supposedly it was all ingame, captured on a PS5.

I suspect actual gameplay will look much like that trailer though.

On that I sure can't disagree. There isn't anything next-gen on this Miles Morales so far except perhaps ray tracing being better used so lightning in general being better and perhaps better loading times/faster transversal/and quick travel. But that doesn't really change the game itself.

i would be amazed if gameplay is on similar level of what we saw on Horizon: Forbidden West. Truly, this would be true next gen on my book.

Comunication is just one of their problems and a simple one at that, that for some reason they cant get over after so many years. After this event you got to admit that buying studios wont fix their issue of lack of talent, they will just pump out more low quality games quicker, wich does at least fix one of their problems wich is low output. Quality is still a hell of a long ways to go it seems. And as long as gamepass is their main buisness plan, I dont see them ever fixing that on issue.

Lack of talent, tell that to Playground and Obsidian. The other studios don’t have near perfect records like those but are still capable of making great games. I mean cmon we getting a Xbox exclusive Skyrim. I don’t need to see gameplay to know Obsidian has that in the bag.

I mean they made it clear they are doing both small to large scale games. Guess that’s the next stigma to overcome. But I wouldn’t say they are lacking quality. Aside from Bleeding Edge games like Ori 2, Gears Tactics, and Minecraft Dungeons got good scores. This month has 4 XGS games and I don’t expect all of them to be critical duds either.

Maybe Battletoads, but Flight SIM and Wasteland 3 each have a ton of care put into them if you keep track. Tell Me Why strikes me as a wild card.

What am I telling playground? that they made a sim game that gets the bare minumin iterative improvement every couple of years? Where they to fuck up what fifa cant would be a miracle. What bout obsidian? that their haydays are nearly adecade ago and outer worlds was just ok? You tell me.

If your fine with cg trailers after what you saw with halo, then by all means keep at it, im not gona stop you. but dont expect me to be impresed by something that Iknow will look nothing like the final product as MS has time and time proven, most recently with halo their flagship title.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

To be fair its not that far off what the first one was on the pro. That they make a small upgrade and its nearly there visually. What im willing to think is that the true upgrades will be in new explorable terrains like under water and flying that will add verticallity and complexity.
