Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Saber: "There is more developers can get out of the Switch hardware" "Fans will be surprised at some of the upcoming titles for it"

While I'm sure most ports will be feasible, I'm wondering which big titles will actually try it. They will certainly need much more time to improve the optimization, I can see delayed releases being the norm for the 3rd party ports on the Switch.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Bring Assassin's Creed: Odyssey (not the cloud version) to the Switch just for sake of "every current gen game can run decently on it"! Red Dead 2 would also be nice. That one on the go would actually be nice to play.

What I'm wondering is how the hell they haven't decided to port GTA V yet.

T2 that's your answer, GTAV's biggest money making aspect is not its sales it's GTA Online a microtransaction filled minefield much like FIFA to EA, T2 are as bad as EA in pushing this aspect and it's the one aspect that NS owners don't really commit to at all unlike owners of other platforms. T2 know this so aren't as keen to port the game over as sales alone is not what they're after especially with the dumb stance their CEO has that they're not charging consumers enough.

Because of this stance it's likely the won't even be ports of any prior games as T2 have gone full dairy farmer mode and want games that milk consumers for years on end until their next project hence their recent comment on the next GTA game being smaller which they add content in other words a road map structure.

Switch has successful Free-to-Play games so I'm not sure where the theory that GTA Online wouldn't make alot of money comes from.

Like the PS4 getting it's best games during it's twilight years. I think it isn't too much to assume the Switch will also see some great looking games that will push it's envelope as usual

Pretty much. I mean, there's a case to be made that we've already seen third year Switch games like Witcher 3, Hellblade, and Luigi's Mansion 3 pushing beyond the standards of its first and second year games.

Tools and rendering techniques are constantly improving and the more developers work with a platform, the more they learn how to get the most out of it by maximizing its strengths and circumventing its weaknesses.

Free to play games don't have a 50-60 price tag for the F2P crowd to pay upfront hence why games like FIFA despite decent sales doesn't have the same success as them.

The "hardware limitations" of the Switch are severly over reported.  Any third party game that is on the PS4 right now could be ported to the Switch if the devs wanted.  The real limitation is in cart size.  Carts cost more than discs.  That's the limitation.  Consequently, we mostly see smaller sized games ported over.  As cart prices come down, we'll see more third party games with a larger file size.  That's when we'll know who really wants their games on the Switch and who is blowing smoke. (e.g. EA)

Well, we have already seen 50GB games like Doom and Witcher 3 brought over to Switch. Compression goes a long way towards reducing file size.

You spelled "Capcom" wrong.
