I'd say around 125m units lifetime.

only 125 million units ? Interesting :) that sounds not strong enough, in my personally opinion.

12 Years Games-Support for the PS4 are easly possible, overall.

And the biggest Games coming in the next two months:

The Last of Us 2 + Ghost of Tsushima !! Two impressive Games with the best Graphic.

The best summer of all time, for all GAMER:
"The Last of Us 2" in June, "Ghost of Tsushima" in July !!

I'll stick with my early year estimate of about 130m. I'd be curious to hear from the "more than 140m" crowd to see how they get to that number.

By the end of this year it will be around 118 million units sold o customer.

End of March around 120 million units. Even PS3 sold around 11 million units after PS4 released.

?

The PS3 sold less than 7.4 million after PS4 released.

"Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) today announced that cumulative sales of the PlayStation®3 (PS3®) computer entertainment system has reached a milestone of 80 million units*1 worldwide as of November 2, 2013"

"As the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system launches November 15, 2013 in North America and November 29, 2013 in Latin America and Europe, SCE will continue to expand the PlayStation ecosystem, which includes the continual support of gaming and digital entertainment content on PS3 systems."

125 - 130 million, I think.

But going by your numbers that brings us to 131m (which I could see happening) but it's far from the 140m mark.

You won't hear from the "more than 140m" crowd, just like you won't hear from the "less than 120m" crowd. Both are designated options for trolls because they gravitate to either the lowest or highest available option, so the relevant options for sales discussion are the eight inbetween.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

With the new sales adjustments, it might have a shot to end at around 120 million units sold to customers at the end of this year.

That of course with a few factors involved, TLOU2, GOT and a possibly price cut.

Then it’s all about Sony’s strategy. But PS3 didn’t sold too much after Ps4 because it was $269 against a $399 Ps4. This time with the possible price of $499 for Ps5, things might be different.

Mostly wishful thinking.

People are forgetting that the PS4 is still selling at $299, that's the same price as a Switch. I think Sony are going to wait for PS5 release before cutting the price. Cross gen games are also going to be there for 2 years.

130 million+

130 million+

PS4 sales are even crazier when you think it is still $299 and the price hasn't been cut in years. No point in dropping price while sales are still so high due to COVID-19. I could see a price cut this holiday to $249 or maybe $199 at the lowest.
