I'll stick with my early year estimate of about 130m. I'd be curious to hear from the "more than 140m" crowd to see how they get to that number.

By the end of this year it will be around 118 million units sold o customer.

End of March around 120 million units. Even PS3 sold around 11 million units after PS4 released.

But going by your numbers that brings us to 131m (which I could see happening) but it's far from the 140m mark.

With the new sales adjustments, it might have a shot to end at around 120 million units sold to customers at the end of this year.

That of course with a few factors involved, TLOU2, GOT and a possibly price cut.

Then it’s all about Sony’s strategy. But PS3 didn’t sold too much after Ps4 because it was $269 against a $399 Ps4. This time with the possible price of $499 for Ps5, things might be different.

Mostly wishful thinking.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

People are forgetting that the PS4 is still selling at $299, that's the same price as a Switch. I think Sony are going to wait for PS5 release before cutting the price. Cross gen games are also going to be there for 2 years.

130 million+

130+ Million are sure!! But my wish is 140+, the PS4 deserve it :)

I think 130 is the absolute limit of what Sony can get out of the PS4. But if we take a step back and look at what an achievement just the current 110 million actually is. Released at a time when people thought console gaming was going to die at the hand of mobile gaming, and now we have the 2nd biggest selling home console of all time.

Even during the rise of PS4, many people doubted it could surpass the Wii. It's not just done that, it's blown it out the water. If the war between Sony and Microsoft continues on the way it's going; people will look at this generation as the period of time that lead to Microsoft pulling out of the home console space.

Sony want to make money by selling art, Nintendo want to make money by selling fun, Microsoft want to make money.

In SW PS4 will break PS2 record (even if it had a lot more budget games due to PSN) and with the help of PS+ PS4 alone probably profited more than all other systems sony released combined (even if we take out all the years with loss of PS3).

I've been predicting 130-140 million since 2018 and I'm still confident in that number

It will reach the number I have said months ago, 160 million, no question about it,
