Congratulations to the United States, you tried someone/something different with Trump which resulted in a collapsing economy, insane levels of debt and hundreds of thousands dead and endless amounts of drama, blame shifting, narcissism, bigotry, division and hate.
And you used your democratic rights to boot him out and elect someone different and competent. Hopefully Biden can mend some of the bridge Trump ruined with us by being disrespectful to our previous prime minister.
From a personal perspective, because Trump wasn't my president, I did enjoy his antics as a joke/free entertainment, so hopefully that class-act continues on in some capacity but doesn't impede progress in the USA.

Honestly I can't see Biden winning a second term and not because he is old and likely to die but because he wasn't really a great candidate to begin with. If Trump handled COVID better he would have won easily, now that is a scary thought lol.
Like you it has no impact on me being in Australia. The only thing I can conclude from the last two elections is America is a bigger mess than Australia where people take their political views too far almost cult like. We sometimes complain about our politicians but I think any of ours are a better option than what America has got atm lol.

Covid and "systemic racism". Basically Biden was elected thanks to one big fat lie. Devious schemes are nothing unusual in politics, but this is on different scale. The socially disruptive one.
|
Need to give Biden an actual chance first before you start complaining on apparant lies... Because the world gave Trump a chance despite him lying about:
That massive wall that never got built and Mexico never paid for it. Hillary never got jailed. Didn't repeal and replace obamacare. Didn't deport all immigrants. Didn't fix the debt problem. (It actually got worst.) Didn't ditch Nato. Didn't reinstate torture. Trump didn't invest heavily on infrastructure to repair and modernize the US's antiquated airports, roads and rail. Didn't bring American troops home and end the "endless wars".
And lets not start on Trumps downplaying and lying about COVID since the start of this year either... Jesus christ, what a mess. No wonder he got booted out on his ass, deservedly so.
|
Where did the world give him a chance? Were you high on scorpion venom? Trump was never given a chance from before the get go. Russian collusion scheme, a solid MSM anti-Trump front, social media and the public non stop ridiculing and chastising him. See all the threads in whatever forum. What about Bidens racist remark? Nothing. But Michelle Obama brining up the Charlottesville lie, or the Proud Boys lie and you're all over it. F'ing hypocrites.
And you want to tell me he was given a chance? Are you f'ing sh'ing me? What would it have looked like if the world would not have given him a chance? Grabing him at inaugeration day and throw him into a woodchipper?
And despite all this no land slide victory for Biden. O my... and maybe even voter fraud?

Biden's speech should say enough. It was extremely PC, all the right words said in all the typical ways, with lots of cheering and applause.
Most importantly, the part of the speech where he made it clear that, 'Dem opponents aren't our enemies and are Americans, and everyone needs to work together'.
Which instead of thunderous applause, was crickets instead...
The anything but Trump candidate doesn't verbally agree with every single thing you want him to, so now what? Kamala will almost certainly be on board if she had the power...

At this point it's clear that Trump using the gullibility of his supporters to pay his campaign debt. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-campaign-legal-defense-donations-debt/
So even with no chance whatsoever of winning in court he will keep fighting on and on and on...

It has gone on long enough. He had years to stop any and all media bias and potential election trouble - and didn't. He can't blame anyone here but the man in the mirror.
Concede and leave. Save any more trouble.

Did he want to though just yet, with a potential second term? Trump thrives when he's up against a wall, and seems to get himself into situations at times that look to be his ultimate downfall. Yet somehow he always manages to get by it. Some say he's an evil mastermind, others say 4d chess player.
Just a thought. If Trump somehow, someway, manages to win like how Bush turned around the Gore call in 2000.
- The media will have unintentionally gifted him the fact that there was no outside influence, corruption, collusion, etc.
- The media is starting to show signs that covid isn't quite as serious as broadcast prior. Dems in the streets shoulder to shoulder again, cheering, screaming, and at times hugging and high fiving, who couldn't stand in line and vote. Pfizer coincidentally announcing their vaccine recently makes things looks even brighter. This could lead to the economy opening more quickly and the inauguration being much more filled than it would be otherwise.
- The media will have unintentionally made Trumps, "fake news" slogan even stronger because of their call for Biden and disregard of investigating going on afterwards. They would also have indirectly helped solidify Trumps message of law and order from him.
Even if Trump can't change anything that wins him the election, this will allow him to prove to his base he's the fighter he said he was. If he bails early, be betrays his base and has no chance at a political career going forward and almost certainly not his kids either.
I wouldn't be surprised one bit if a Trump concession speech ended up being a 2024 campaign kick off speech. Red hats and MAGA signs and flags everywhere for the next 4 years. Trump on some Fox shows often enough, if he doesn't make his own media platform, with Trump tweeting constantly about politics everyday still. After 4 years of the treatment he got, with the one thing his opponents want more than anything, being able to get rid of his face and voice, would anybody honestly assume Trump wouldn't make sure to 'return the favor'?
