Trump won't change direction
https://www.ctvnews.ca/world/trump-insists-he-s-right-on-the-virus-as-more-americans-get-sick-and-die-1.5030901
"I'll be right eventually. I will be right eventually. You know I said, 'It's going to disappear.' I'll say it again," Trump said in an interview on "Fox News Sunday."

He's right eventually it will go away.... it might take 2-3 years, and a vaccine to do it.....
but if he can just ignore it for that long, he'll be proved right... eventually.

Regardless, the AZ vaccine will roll out by the end of the year to at-risk populations and healthcare professionals. So, one way or another, it's more than halfway through already.

Will we hit the more than 300,000 estimated deaths from the 1918 Flu? I don't think so.

1. Covid is related to the cold virus which has never had a successful vaccine developed for it as they both mutate very quickly (every 3 months, much faster than the flu at 12 months)

2. Vaccines take on average 5 years to be developed safely, a rushed vaccine may have its own issues

3. Immunity in a prior infected person at best lasts a few months from what researchers are seeing, and in many cases permanent/long term lung damage is the result

4. This virus unless eliminated will circle the globe forever, constantly mutating, elimination is the key, but for many places politically this won't happen

This is my fear.... that we give up, and it just ends up being a normal thing that just keeps comeing back every (few) year(s).

And it is almost impossible to isolate in specific areas in systematic ways till it's gone, because we all depend on the global market and with our modern populations bordercrossing will keep happening without military involvement.

Most likely this will be another one added on the list of the viruses that claim many lives each year,it mutates pretty fast and it will be an ongoing research for improved vaccines.

Near oktober or midway oktober i suspect it to hit europe again in a more devestating wave that will take longer than the previous one.

Theres 1 solution that works, no matter what form the virus has or what mutations it underwent.
(its not even dependent on how fast and well, we develope medicin, and vaccines)

Dont spread it.

We know how it spreads, and if everyone in society acts their part, to not spread it, it wont.

Your only as strong as your weakest link.

(this is why USA is haveing issues, its so split on the issue, if its a hoax, just a flu, mask or not, people that dont care, covid19 parties (to purposefully infect one another))

Good social distanceing & practises + masks, can keep us safe.
If it becomes a yearly thing, then social distanceing and masks, will just become a way of life.

To this day for how long i can not remember people keep littering garbage everywhere and that should be something easier to deal with, without heavy social measures that are more heavily punished when not done correctly people will just out of egoism not care enough.

Also shops need some protecting from those that get angry over needing to wear a mask, instead of bullying protesters the cops would be better used to guard shops for some weeks, months and people will eventually fall(mostly) in line.

Yeah.... its a issue, sadly society were there more people that dont act responsibly, the harder it is to controll.
You need everyone on the same page, willing to look out for them selves and one another.

Unity is super important in times like these.
The fact that americans carry guns, are willing to draw them and sometimes shoot people, asking them to wear masks.
Difficult situation there.

And yes, instead of haveing cops in a stand off, faceing down protestors, who mainly just stand around doing nothing... they could be out protecting shops instead.

The silver lining is that those measures will help prevent many flu deaths as well. We might have a very low death toll from flu next season. Or if people give up on social distancing, good hygiene and masks, flu and covid19 might combine to make an even deadlier combination. Infected by both might push many more over the edge.

Hopefully many more people will opt for the flu shot this year, and hopefully it's an effective one (chose the right strains) this year.

People like to have holiday in the summer, yet it makes more sense to put the 2 month school holiday during flu season...

It could kinda be stopped when putting enough resources in a small area before that goes on full lockdown with closed borders, after that the first area goes on a second phase of lockdown till the second area that suround it like a circle has passed its first phase.

Like that but in many states and areas at once but with the capatalism today that will not happen ofcourse:P

This is where an AI can help (or kill us all). Humans can't work together on a global scale, can't plan efficiently, can't track efficiently, can't plan ahead. But they won't listen to an AI either. Nvm, the human race is destined to fail. This virus won't do it, but it sure shows how ineffective we are as a global society.

Civilizations rise and fall, the species will go on in some form, yet our current civilization's days are numbered if we don't change.

I see you are up to date with the catchy NYT headlines.

1. False. There are vaccines to adenovirus strains and semi-complete MERS and SARS vaccines.

2. Indeed, but to most of these there weren't trillions of dolllars at stake, neither certain perks as deliberate infection and massive number of volunteers amid an ongoing outbreak.

3. False. igG antibodies to all diseases tend to last a few months because that's how long most plasmocytes live to begin with and a small part of the immune response. All coronaviruses induce sterilizing immunity for about a year, but celullar immunity lasts far longer.

Besides, outdoor city air is considered carcinogenic and the leading cause of lung cancer by the WHO since 2015, so scarification from a cold virus should be the last of your concerns.

4. Coronaviruses have built in mechanisms that make them unable to mutate anywhere the same rate as other RNA viruses. Besides, even something like influenza strains, capable of multiplicity reactivation in situ, induce cross immune reactions many decades apart.
