We, the rest of the world, are greatful to you, the US, for once again stepping into the fire and giving us a heads of on how hot the flames are. Thank you for your service, fingers crossed all goes well and if it doesn't, it was great having you as a super power to look toward but, China numba wan, beeeches!

Hah! China is going down because of their handling of this virus which originated in Wuhan. They can forget about the 2022 Winter Olympics - watch how many countries boycott them starting early next year.

Yea but if the investigations come out that the virus is man made in the wuhan lab which was funded constantly by US. Wouldn't US get the blame as well. Why would they fund it?

Exactly how much money went from the US government to the Wuhan Institute of Virology?

Russia held an Olympics and a World Cup after annexing Crimea.

Qatar are still likely to hold a World Cup despite many of the top people involved being part of a corruption scandal and it generally being a bad idea due to the slave labour, sexism, homophobia, intolerance of alcohol, the heat and even the size of the country.

Yet you think China will lose the Olympics because a virus started there? Either other countries are massive hypocrites and should be ashamed of themselves for letting worse things go, or the Chinese Olympics will still happen.

Unleashing a global killing and economy killing virus onto the world far eclipses some country annexing a tiny piece of land.

No, I' being serious and I'm not drinking CCP coolaid. China is stronger now since Spring 2020 than any other country in the world

John, we are in the middle of Spring 2020. It started on March 19 and ends on June 19.

What benefit does China have killing the world economy, they rely as much on their export as we do on their manufacturing. Plus China holds a lot of debt from other countries, mainly the US. A, there a much safer ways to destroy the US economy with all that debt, B they would be devaluing their own holds in the USA and other countries. That conspiracy theory doesn't even pass the who would benefit test.

Second, the only thing certain about the Wuhan lab is, that it exists. There is zero reason to believe it escaped there and also proven to be impossible for the original virus to jump from bats to humans without an intermediary host.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/01/could-covid-19-be-manmade-what-we-know-about-origins-trump-chinese-lab-coronavirus

Peter Ben Embarek, an expert at the World Health Organization in animal to human transmission of diseases, and other specialists also explained to the Guardian that if there had been any manipulation of the virus you would expect to see evidence in both the gene sequences and also distortion in the data of the family tree of mutations – a so-called “reticulation” effect.

There is convincing evidence that the new virus was not the result of intentional genetic engineering and that it almost certainly originated from nature, given its high similarity to other known bat-associated coronaviruses,”

“the early genome frequencies until 17 January do not favour Wuhan as an origin over other parts of China, for example five of nine Guangdong/Shenzhen patients who had A types.” In other words, it still remains far from certain that Wuhan was even necessarily where the virus first emerged.

While intelligence analysts and many scientists see the lab-as-origin theory as technically possible, no direct evidence has emerged suggesting that the coronavirus escaped from Wuhan’s research facilities. Many scientists argue that the evidence tilts firmly toward a natural transmission: a still-unknown interaction in late fall that allowed the virus to jump from a bat or another animal to a human.

Here's a motive

Concerns about unwarranted scapegoating of Shi and other Chinese scientists have increased following reports that the Trump administration has sought to pressure U.S. intelligence agencies to search for proof of a link between the Wuhan lab and the outbreak. The New York Times reported Thursday that some analysts fear the administration will seek to distort assessments about the virus as a means of blaming China for a pandemic that has already sickened more than 1 million Americans and killed more than 60,000.

A few scientists and national security experts have pointed to a history of lab accidents infecting researchers to suggest it might have happened in this case, but many scientists have dismissed such theories.

“We do not believe any type of laboratory-based scenario is plausible,” five scientists wrote in a paper published in March in Nature Medicine.

Mr. Trump has spoken publicly about the administration’s “very serious investigations” of the virus’s origin and China’s culpability. Those inquiries took on new urgency in late March, when intelligence officials presented information to the White House that prompted some career officials to reconsider the lab theory. The precise nature of the information, based in part on intercepted communications among Chinese officials, is unclear.

The current and former officials did not say whether Mr. Trump himself, who has shown little regard for the independent judgments of intelligence and law enforcement officials, has pressured the intelligence agencies. But he does want any information supporting the lab theory to set the stage for holding China responsible, according to two people familiar with his thinking.

He has expressed interest in an idea pushed by Michael Pillsbury, an informal China adviser to the White House, that Beijing could be sued for damages, with the United States seeking $10 million for every death. At a news conference this week, Mr. Trump said the administration was discussing a “very substantial” reparations claim against China — an idea that Beijing has already denounced.

Stop drinking the US kool aid.

Anyway the WHO is still on the case.

Tragic day in Canada yesterday. One of the snow birds crashed in Kamloops on the operation inspiration tour :(

VICTORIA -- One member of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds has died and another has sustained serious injuries after their plane crashed in Kamloops, B.C., while on a cross-country tour. CTV News has confirmed that Capt. Jennifer Casey has been identified as the Snowbirds team member killed in the crash.

In a subsequent tweet, the RCAF said the surviving member's injuries, while serious, were not life threatening.

Kamloops RCMP confirmed Sunday afternoon that they received a report that a Snowbird plane had crashed into a residence on Glenview Avenue, at about 11:42 a.m. local time. BC Emergency Health Services said multiple paramedics responded to the scene and one person was transported to hospital. EHS could not provide any information about that patient's condition.

"The tail of the plane was flying across the street and it was coming right at our house, but it ended up hitting a power pole and spinning around and ended up right on our front grass," Cox said.

“The Snowbirds have been traveling across the country for the past few weeks lifting Canadians’ spirits as part of Operation Inspiration. This is a tragic end to a tour that has brought much needed joy to so many.”
