Cannot wait to play Pyschonauts 2! Meta has it at 86, which is more or less where the final score will be. Great scores overall!

Anyone else been absolutely addicted to Hades? For me, it's as good as everyone says.
Bastion was one of my favorite games during the 7th gen, and when Supergiant Games wasn't releasing games on Xbox last gen, I would be lying if I wasn't disappointed, but I'm finally playing one of their games again and it's makes me so dang happy. Hopefully we see some more ports of their older games hit Xbox.

I don't I've ever played roguelite games, something is putting me off with the genre. But you caught my attention, what makes the game so good and addictive?

I mean, just look at my avatar ![]()
I have a Switch so I played it a few months ago now and absolutely loved it. Interestingly, I've played both Bastion and Transistor and neither hooked me like Hades did. Likewise I've played a couple rogue-like/lites in the past and Hades hooked me more than any of those too. I think the combination of story elements along with the upgrade system being paced so well is what makes this game work for me.
Glad to see you're enjoying it!

Besides excellent gameplay, it has an ever continuing story unfolding. Every time I die, the world continues to expand on it's universe, lore, characters, etc. Dying is not some annoyance like most games in the genre, it just makes me want to keep playing. There is always new items to unlock and discover, along with interesting side characters. Some of the most interesting characters/items I come across were 10+ runs in. There is also so much variations with each run, with the different boons(abilities) you choose to unlock and which paths to take. I've never had a run that was the same as the last so it keeps the game fresh. The game has so much charm, I would recommend it to anyone even if they don't enjoy roguelite games.
Forgot to mention the soundtrack is excellent.

Yeah, I have played a lot of Hades since release. The time goes away so fast and you are always with that feeling of just one more. Trying to unlock everything is a beast but they keep piecing you out the story which makes you keep going back to figure it all out.

Hades is definitely their best games. Story telling, gameplay, soundtrack, have always been top notch for all their games, but Hades turns it up to 11.

I'm not an AOE player by any means and I could never get into the logistics of gameplay design, but from graphical design, this looks better than any previous footage I've seen.

Not for me since I got all the achievements but good to see continued support for older games.
Congrats to Double Fine. Nice to see Psychonauts 2 scoring s high.

"As much as I love Steam, I do somewhat worry about the PC as a gaming platform becoming owned by a single entity that takes 30% of all PC games sold. I'm hoping for a future where more games can self-publish and use social media and friends to market their games. Perhaps there's something we could do to help out there? I don't know. If nothing else, we might work as an inspiration for people to self-publish." "Being on Steam limits a lot of what we're allowed to do with the game, and how we're allowed to talk to our users," Persson wrote. "We (probably?) wouldn't be able to, say, sell capes or have a map market place on minecraft.net that works with steam customers in a way that keeps Valve happy. It would effectively split the Minecraft community into two parts, where only some of the players can access all of the weird content we want to add to the game." Suppose it has just carried on over, I think the real reason is they don't want to share profits with Steam and the vast majority of PC players right now use Mojang's launcher so Mojang is getting 100% of the profits but I do think it would easily sell enough to be worth any 30% losses, the double dippers alone would likely be in their millions, Lol. |
And he was totally right. The concern that he raised has become a reality. Any PC game developer HAS to give 30% to Valve because the self-publishing is not an option considering how monopolistic Steam has grown. You either release a game on Steam or end up having troubles to even let people know about your game.
