This here is a very intersting part about the FPS Boost:
"In some instances, because there are higher graphics requirements to enable FPS Boost technology, we’ve had to reduce a game’s resolution to ensure it both runs smoothly and plays great. In those select cases, such as Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 in this latest title announcement, FPS Boost is not automatically enabled for Xbox Series X gamers. For all titles receiving this update, gamers will see a clear indicator if a title is running FPS Boost."
So on one hand it might be a little disappointing that they had to decrease the resolution to make sure it runs at a stable 60 FPS (though we have to remember that it's running in BC mode). But at the same time it's fantastic news that this is even possible. That means that FPS Boost would cause RDR 2 to run at 60 FPS on Series consoles. Maybe not at 4k but at a little lower res (that is IF FPS Boost isn't messing with the physics of the game).
Anyway just started Fallout 4 to try it out and it obviously works rather well (haven't tried any combat though). Will be interesting to see the Digital Foundry video but it didn't seem like a huge drop in resolution.
Isn't Bloodlines 2 also game pass bound, when it releases in 3/4 years?
They showed a Bloodlines 2 trailer during the Series X "gameplay" reveal but it wasn't announced as coming to Game Pass.

I was wondering when this was going to arrive. I just started play Dishonored DE weekend so this FPS boost is excellent news.
I have my final exam on Thursday and they're adding 60 FPS for Fallout 4 today, release Undertale tomorrow on Game Pass and I'm currently addicted to Valkyria Chronicles 4 (17 hours in). Why couldn't this happen two weeks ago where I had no clue what to play?!?
Thank god GwG still sucks

This is one easy get for MS I guess. Square probably came to MS by themselves to put the game into GamePass given how obviously it will flop. As usually with games like this, it is more important to gain some user base that to sell a lot of copies at launch so it makes sense.
But on the side note, something tells me we will see more deals like this throughout a year ![]()

Finally. I actually thought that this one will never come to Xbox at this point.
Paradox would do nothing for me, but the move would make sense for MS to grow their presence on PC. Also having the White Wolf IPs could have some potential (Vampire the Masquerade/Werewolf the Apocalypse).
| Ryuu96 said: As I've said before, I don't particularly care about Pardox titles but I think it would be a wise business decision, they may 'only' have a few high selling IP, but the titles they do have are popular on PC (Crusader Kings III, Europa Universalis IV, Hearts of Iron IV, Stellaris, Cities: Skylines), acquiring them would pretty much cement Microsoft as the #1 strategy developer by far. Of course we'd get Harebrained too, which would come with Jordan Weisman and be essentially like reviving FASA, it would make it far easier to revive IP such as Shadowrun, Crimson Skies, MechAssault, etc. Their handling of Bloodlines 2 is a little concerning, kicking Hardsuit Labs off the project but who knows, maybe they just weren't up to the task? Funnily enough the original creators of Bloodlines are split between Obsidian (Leonard Boyarsky) and InXile (Chad Moore, Jason Anderson), I would make a joke that maybe they're finishing Bloodlines II but that would be a bad PR look for Microsoft, Lol. Also $2bn as we've seen is nothing to Microsoft, I suspect Zenimax isn't the only publisher they will acquire, would Sega be better? Sure, but if Sega doesn't want to sell then there's nothing we can do about it, I doubt though if both Paradox and Sega were up for sale, Microsoft would have to pick one or the other, I suspect they would just acquire them both now. Only other issue with Sega is they aren't only a game company, that's a whole other load of mess they'd have to work out, Sammy is riding this pandemic out thanks to Sega, that might make them reluctant to sell Sega now, seeing how Sega is basically pulling them along during this and Microsoft would 100% not want Sammy, but without Sega, Sammy might plummet in profits, Lol. But anyway, Lol, I'm pretty sure this is just a Game Pass/Marketing deal? Looks like Microsoft is marketing for Paradox as a whole while quite a few Paradox titles are slowly coming to Game Pass. |
Paradox does make sense only if MS wants to shore up EU share. They are an easy way to worm oneself into the market.
However, something I've floated ad nauseum is the idea of buying IPs instead of studios since many good IPs are pretty much orphaned right now, buying an studio doesn't help them come back and some of these were that good.
Imagine a new Gothic as an Xbox Exclusive. Imagine if Coolboarders or Twisted Metal, which Sony's essentially keeping in a shelf gathering dust, came to Xbox. Imagine getting a new Splinter Cell or Suikoden in our family. That'd be neat, but many of those studios either no longer exist, are dormant or close to ruin. For IPs like Bloody Roar, they plain no longer exist.
Also, the ultimate irony about Sammy. If Xbox offers to buy, it might be Atlus who argues the most for, since I heard they dislike the Sammy demands from the other subsidiaries.
How hilarious would it be if the offer does happen and we learn Atlus was the first branch to jump ship?
OTOH, the Persona anti-fan in me doesn't want Atlus stepping into the ring because that opens a VN can of worms that eventually might throw me out of console altogether and even gaming from Stores.
Thin line that needs to be threaded there, IMO.

No, it was a pretty mediocre GaaS game from what I played. But, I've seen some people who said they liked it, so I guess it will be a big deal for some people. |
It’s actually not a GaaS. They’ve said everything is in the game day one and don’t plan to update it like a GaaS.
