It is a long shot but I am going to guess that Microsoft aquired Valve Corporation.

That's a scary thought.

I follow a game developer on Twitter who was speculating the exact same thing a few weeks ago. He said he heard a rumor that Gabe Newell is planning to retire soon and was looking to sell Valve. MS is one of the few that could afford to buy Valve if Gabe does decide to sell it, and it would make perfect sense for MS, they'd not only get several good IP's (Half-Life, Portal, Left 4 Dead, Dota, Counter-Strike), but they'd also get Steam which would be huge for their PC gaming initiative.

The way I see it the entire narrative would change for the millions of Steam users. They would essentially be “Xbox gamers” overnight.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

As of 2019 Valve was worth $10 billion. Also a private company, which is the only companies MS acquires (nothing publicly traded). Coupled with the Windows Store they would have a monopoly in the PC gaming marketplace. The buyout would pay for itself within years based on taking standard cuts for selling games.

Integrate Game Pass into it. Have the only “change” to users be that they have to make a Xbox account thats only used when playing Xbox Studio games/Game Pass. Put Valve backlog into Game Pass PC/console. And boom, you just changed the entire game. Gabe is getting old, his retirement is coming sooner rather then later.

Maybe he's enjoyed New Zealand too much and wants to settle down there.

Last I heard he's been stuck there due to covid... Since March.

Fallout 4 getting a nice boost... Fucking pissed off lol. Played this for 90 hours, not terrible with performance, but 30FPS is definitely noticeable, especially when the actions gets heated even more dips. :/

Not playing anymore Xbox games until Series X. After this playing Mario.

I'm being strategic with the games I'm playing right now. I'm holding off on playing Doom Eternal, RDR2(need to finish), and I'm waiting to buy Control Ultimate Edition.

It boggles me series S was known for months but stuff like this is guess guess untill its announced

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I'll just assume no more acquisitions until they announce something officially.

Looking forward to trying Fallout 4 for the first time with enhancements on the series X.

Did anyone else see doom running on a fridge through xcloud? They just need to bring Skyrim to xcloud to make sure it's available on every platform.

The 60fps for Fallout 4 is very impressive. Hopefully MS gives a list of games that support such features.
