TV cut of the launch trailer.

A new Fallout game is going to come either way I would rather Obsidian not cancel The Outer Worlds 2 to do Fallout, the more diversity in IPs the better.

Hoping Obsidian does not abandon TOW 2. Obsidian has the small Grounded team, main team working on Avowed, as well as a smaller team on TOW ip correct? There's just so much possibilities for MS with combinations between Obsidain, Inexile, and Bethesda. After playing Fallout 4, I definitely will be playing 3 and NV. Hopefully they staff up Bethesda, or Obsidian to help expedite some of the dev time. Having a Fallout NV 2 before Fallout 5 at the end of the Series X/Gen 9 would be nice. Or even putting Fallout 5 off this gen and into next. It's crazy to think about even having the conversation of maybe not another mainline Fallout this upcoming gen.

New Vegas 2 would be my bet, but I would not oppose Fallout 5 this gen. But if it were to happen I feel it might be near the end of the gen. Although imagine having Fallout 5 as a launch title for Xbox Contraception.

Fax Grim. I really do not want cancelling games... Just staff up more of the teams, or take your time with Fallout 5; I do not think people are clamoring for a Fallout 5 right now with Starfield and ES 6. I do wonder what Inexile's AAA game is going to be like. Speaking of cancelled games, kinda hoping they bring back Scalebound, maybe give it to a competent dev this time like Ninja Theory. Phantom Dust can stay dead though.

We went a whole generation without a new Elder Scrolls, don't be surprised if we go a generation without Fallout.

What's their schedule going to be like if everything goes ahead.

  • 2021 - Starfield
  • 2022 - Avowed
  • 2023 - Fable
  • 2024 - The Outer Worlds 2
  • 2025 - The Elder Scrolls VI
  • 2026 - InXile's RPG
  • 2027 - Avowed Sequel
  • 2028 - Fallout 5

Something like that?

Going from zero RPGs to potentially 1 RPG per year across 8 years, Lol.

Lol were definitely getting a Fallout game before 2028. Could be a remake, new game or a sequel to 76.

As for the poll....the hype question is a bit moot for me, as I don't tend to get particularly hyped for games until their release is really on the horizon. It's all good and well knowing that something is coming eventually, but until I really see something taking shape, it's just quiet anticipation for me. And of course, there's no question that Elder Scrolls is by far the biggest deal of any of these games, so whenever that becomes a tangible reality, I'll probably be more excited for that than the rest.

So, with that said, I'll tell you instead the things I'm most interested to see how they play out.
1. Playground hit the ground running with Forza Horizon. Can they do the same in the RPG space? Once again, they have a beloved, well established IP to play with, and once again, they'll have an opportunity to put their own spin on it. If they get this right, they can cement themselves as an absolute top tier dev.

2. What are Obsidian going to do to differentiate Avowed from the Elder Scrolls? Whatever their plans were before, knowing now that ES is also under the MS umbrella, it doesn't really make sense to simply have an ES clone with different nameplates on everything. They need to make sure they set it apart in some way besides the fact that it's set in a different universe.

3. How does Bethesda translate their RPG formula to space? Whichever you prefer, there's no denying that ES and Fallout are, mechanically, more or less the same game. It's the same model, wearing different brands of clothing and make up. Will Starfield simply be a third styling, or does Bethesda have something more up it's sleeve for their new IP?

Least we got a Skyrim again

For real though, Skyrim and GTA 5... used to have so much more faith in Rockstar (off topic ik), but it's pretty shameful how far they've fallen (not money wise obviously).

Hopefully this gen we get ES 6, GTA 6, new IP from Rockstar (lol), SR 5. Shaping up to already be better than gen 8.

That's actually a really good conversation starter. How MS and their Western RPG teams will be able to make games that all do not feel the same. I thought it was rumored that Inexile's next game was like Fallout. Not sure how that will change. Avowed I hope isn't a bootleg ES, not sure what they can really do to differentiate themselves. Lot of similar talent. Not saying you have the reinvent the wheel to be relevant, but it will be interesting to see how these teams put their own spin on the Western RPG genre. I'm most curious with PG. After Fable 3, I really do not have high expectations for the IP itself, but PG is working on it. Just hoping they are able to translate that same humor.

I guess that's one way to differentiate, tone of the game. Fable I hope is nothing like ES 6. It needs to have that charm and art style. The trailer done by Blur with the fairy getting yeeted was hopefully a good indicator. Really hope MS doesn't get anymore Western RPGs.

Crazy to think we could be getting a big AAA RPG every damn year. I really do hope they do NV 2 before Fallout 5.
