Why would CD Project Red be classified as a waste of money, just because 10 billion for two games? I know Ryuu said that, but do others mirror that same sentiment? Just wondering.

Yah I agree with that.

Cyberpunk / Witcher 3 are good acquisition but not for that amount... Esp. after getting Elder Scrolls / Fallout and Starfield already in house.

Xbox is now home to a lot of amazing exclusives WRPG... I do not think they need anything else in that area.

Now, no matter what are those rumors about (remember they are still just rumors), we have no idea about the timing. For CD Red, maybe they could have started discussion at the same time and at the end both of them went through ahah.

That dude is actually from Sevilla, Spain and not Mexico I believe, if he was Mexican then I would have dismissed his statements.

Ok, just assumed he was Mexican because he was talking Spanish and Mexico has alot more Xbox fans than Spain, but it does make more sense that he would have a friend at a European studio that MS already acquired if he lived in Europe himself. I'm starting to think that leaker was talking about Asobo, while Ragnar is talking about a different studio, possibly Bungie. Bungie isn't quite as big as Bethesda in terms of popularity, but they come close. Not sure if they're worth the rumored $2b that Bungie was supposedly asking for, but they do come with the Destiny IP and the new AAA IP they are working on with plans for release by 2024 at the latest. And having them able to possibly assist on Halo again would be invaluable, so maybe they could be worth the $2b, or maybe MS talked them down some, Bungie did deny the $2b rumor afterall.

Phil is going to let his bias get to him and overpay for Bungie who won’t have an immediate impact on Xbox like Bethesda did. Let’s say that they did buy but managed to negotiate to about half that 2 billion that was rumored and settled for 1-5 billion instead.

That cash is more than enough to buy Platinum, IOI, Crytek and Techland and possibly still be under that 1-5 billion. It’s just not a good deal imo and if Bungies next game is a gas title like Destiny then I don’t think that it’s worth it because Bungie themselves would likely want to put it as many platforms as they can.

Eh, I wouldn't say it's a "waste of money" but CDPR is definitely overvalued, I know GOG probably drives up the price a little but they still shouldn't cost that much. If MS is willing to fork over the cash for them then that's their prerogative, they spent 26 billion to buy LinkedIn and I think that was massively overvalued.

That and they don't own the IPs for the games apparently. Also I feel like their output is too slow to justify that price. Zenimax released many excellent games this generation (ESO, dishonoured, prey, doom, Wolfenstein, rage off the top of my head), in addition to their giant IPs fallout and elder scrolls, and they own all of the IPs. They also have other dormant IPs that have a lot of potential like quake. Finally, they've been developing a game streaming service (Orion), and the tech from that may help with gamepass streaming.

On the other hand, CDPR have released Witcher 3 and are about to release cyberpunk. While huge, those games don't justify a higher price than all the above that I listed for Zenimax.

Lol I totally forgot they got LinkedIn for 26 billion. Yeah they definitely are.

@Ryuu @Shika @Has
Yeah now I see what you all are saying. Biggest thing is I didn't even realize they didn't own the IPs. Who owns Witcher and Cyberpunk? Warner Bros? Or is it someone completely different. Good point as well on time it take for them to output games, and the overall price would be too high. Although I still wouldn't mind a fat bag to put them on Game pass day one.
Rather the other acquisitions be smaller like the Hitman devs, and Techland, and or Asobo. If they want a big publisher than go for Ubisoft, jk :)

I'd prefer they went after stuff like Techland and Asobo as well. I love CDPR but they definitely aren't worth the price they would undoubtedly be asking.

I'd prefer they go for whoever can make a crash/spyro style remake for banjo Kazooei, with raytracing, because TFLOPS!!!!

I would actually love a remake. The earlier the better.

Damn I had no idea those two IPs were that detailed.

CDPR would absolutely NOT be a waste of money.

GOG would be fantastic for MS, and beyond that....well, what's it worth to have the only console moving forward that can play the next game of the generation? Cus CDPR is about to finish a gen with the 2 best games by a country mile. And as far as their lack of IP ownership....well, who fucking cares. MS have tons of great IP at this point. Imagine CDPR being the ones to finally make a Halo RPG. The dream of that alone is worth 10 billion lol.

With that out of the way.....you guys have gone acquisition talk crazy up in here. Jesus, MS just bought one of the biggest publishers in gaming, and all everyone is interested in is who's next lol. Take it down a notch boys. I can see drool coming down the corner of your mouth.
