Ah the FF13 E3 announcement, the Oceans 11 heist of a competitors exclusive. Good times

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

The problem is going to be getting those 3rd party JP devs to release their games on Xbox. Phil has been trying all gen on the many occasions where he has flown to Japan, and while that has helped some, there are still a great many JP 3rd party devs who refuse to release on Xbox. The only way to convince many of those devs to release on Xbox is to get the Xbox ecosystem (Xbox Series/xCloud/Windows Store) to be a success in Japan, and the only way to sell the Xbox ecosystem to Japanese gamers is to have exclusive content on the Xbox ecosystem that they can't play on PS5 or Switch. Now that doesn't neccessarily mean that they should moneyhat exclusives in established Japanese series, though that certainly would help Xbox's fortunes in Japan as 360 proved. Another way to pull it off, without moneyhatting established franchises, would be to make 2nd party deals for new Japanese IP's and/or to acquire or create from the ground up Japanese 1st party studios.

Xbox will never be successfull in Japan. Even if they got the Pokemon games as exclusives, they still wouldn't sell there.

MS needs to do better at Europe and promote Japanese games to it's existing fanbase to show Japanese devs that at least their games will sell in the west.

Games like Atelier and Neptunia will probably never find an audience in Xbox but games like Yakuza and Persona can at least be multiplatform.

Funding new ip's or dead ones, building 1st party studios in Japan would indeed be the best solution.

So Fable Anniversary is on GWG and on GamePass.

How do I secure the GWG licence if I've already downloaded the game with GamePass?

Usually GWG 360 games keep activated after Gamepass Ultimate runs out, but GamePass games would be deactivated.

Try purchasing the games via the Xbox Marketplace on a PC.

I disagree. Xbox 360 sold a respectable 1.6m in Japan even though though Don Mattrick abandoned Peter Moore's Japan initiative, if Don Mattrick had continued Peter Moore's Japan initiative though the 2nd half of the generation instead of ending it in 2009, Xbox 360 would have sold over 2m in Japan, possibly even 3m. While Xbox is never going to be as big there as a Sony or Nintendo system, you don't need to sell that much in Japan to be a success, as success is relative.

Also xCloud is something that can help the Xbox ecosystem in Japan drastically. Japanese gamers love to play games on their phone, well xCloud would allow them to play their console games on their phone over 5G. It could be just what is needed for MS to make an impact in Japan. But they still need exclusive Japanese content on the Xbox ecosystem to make that happen.

But I am glad that we agree that MS should fund some new IP's in Japan and open some 1st party studios there.

If you expect MS to have some third party deals for exclusive Japanese games or Japanese studio acquisition for Series X launch you are almost certainly setting yourself up to disappointment. The current state of the market is that Xbox now has less 10% of console marketshare. Add PC in there and the fact that Xbox audience has the smallest percentage of people who interested in these types of games out of all platforms and you'll probably get the target audience of less than 1% of gamers. Do you think that any Japanese dev would be willing to take such a deal? Unfortunately it's almost impossible right now. MS needs to fix worldwide appeal first and then move on to trying to get Japanese stuff. When 360 launched it was way easier, because every platform except PS2 was irrelevant in the grand scheme of things for Japanese developers. There wasn't a huge audience for their games on Gamecube or PC. Now you have PS4, PC and Switch - all these platforms has lots of gamers interested in these kinds of games, so trying to sway developers to Xbox platform is now a way harder task than it was during 360 era.

Doom eternal is already on sale? WTH, I'm still seeing the "launch ad" for it on YouTube...

Why did you list Pc as something separate? PC is Microsoft. Their storefront comes with every PC and their games release on Steam now.
Even PlayStation gamers who bought Minecraft, Hellblade, Outer Worlds, and who will buy Wasteland 3, Minecraft Dungeons and Psychonauts 2 are doing gods work in my opinion :) Same goes for Switch players buying Hellblade or Ori.

Case in point you don’t need a Xbox to support Xbox. Even when you avoid the console millions of gamers give their time.

That’s why I think MS will release a dedicated Xcloud box sometime in the next few years. Very cheap, much like Chromecast and how it’s used for Stadia to stream on TV. It’s gonna crack the markets that don’t want to buy a Xbox console. Game Pass will be paired with it and as long as it has notable 3rd party Japanese content that should suffice, until MS somehow gets exclusive content.

If you are saying that because of what I said. I don't know what is on sale. Just saying what I hope is.

Yeah, I was... Damn...

I still have to play through Doom 2016. I bought it day one and haven't touched it... I bring shame to the Xbox Empire.

Looks like the Xbox Spring Sale is going up.

Come on DBZ Kakarot and Doom Eternal on sale!! Yes I know Doom just came out.

DBZ is $40.19. Doom is not on sale.

The more I play Bleeding Edge the more I like it. More often than not, randoms actually have an idea how to play as a team so matches are more tactical and fun.

I think overall the characters are balanced well and NT shouldn't rush to tweak them.

For example, I read people find Buttercup to be OP but I don't agree. Her yank+oil combo is easy to escape from if you keep an eye on your stamina and dodge. And she's easily countered with Nidhöggr, who's deadly against any tank and my favourite dps character. His Ride the Lightning skill is a game changer if used with teamwork.

You can also dodge Maeve's cage if you pay attention and she's easily damaged and forced to escape. Maeve is very good but wouldn't call her OP.

El Bastardo is the best tank imo. My brother plays him well and he finished many games with plenty of kills and zero deaths. He deals good damage while protecting teammates. We even won 4v2 and 3v2 situations with well-timed ultimate abilities by Nidhöggr and Bastardo.

While Bleeding Edge is more about teamwork, individual skill is also more important than I initially thought. It's about good use of skills and dodge and situational awareness. If they boost stamina regeneration they lower the skill-cap imo so I hope they won't do it.

Damn the Spring Sale has some fantastic deals.

Cities Skylines Mayor Edition is a really good deal but it looks like they're continuing with the DLCs so it's still not a complete edition.
Trine Ultimate Collection is also a steal.
Shadow of War DE for $15
Onrush for $5.
etc.

Could probably spend hundreds but I need to keep a clean head.
