Interesting list, anyone you want Xbox to work with?

It’s interesting that he is mentioning new studios formed under publishers like Take-Two and EA, if that is the case then there are more that he didn’t list. Embracer formed like 3 new AAA studios and Tencent around 4 I believe then you also have Avalanche Liverpool who were former in 2020/21.

The industry is still growing and with the amount of cash and investment being thrown around in the Video Game business there isn’t a better time for experienced developers to go out there and form their own Studio.

Beat King Xbot aka @Ryuu96 at a Far Cry game Fuck MP/Co-op cheevos, that map editor thing was probably one of the worst things I've seen. Trash mode.

Liked FC 5 more than I thought once I got over the minimap and perk tree shit. Characters definitely the highlight. Silent protag not the best idea imo, just gives you no identity. Unpopular opinion, but I really liked the ending too. Might even edge out 4 for me honestly. Primal still my fave. Talking to people to get staches or hideouts on the map worked for me. Not being able to defog the whole map did mess with me a little, but I got over it. Probably the biggest wtf endings so far in this series. Felt like it had a proper ending like 3.

The constant taking you out of action for story purposes was also really annoying. At first, I thought it was cool, but they kept doing it for every damn milestone. Ubisoft has a knack for finding somewhat interesting concepts and then beating them into the dirt. Once for each of the region's to meet the sub boss would have sufficed.

Primal > 5 > 4 > 3

If 3 had an actual remake with current or even Far Cry 5 build with QoL enhancements, it would easily be probably my favorite despite the star leaving a little sooner than I would like. I feel all Far Cry have good and bad. Either, meh story for me, or gameplay elements I don't mesh well with. And it seems like they try to take 3 steps forward and 4 steps back at times.

Let's see how trash New Dawn is

Well, I would be interested in Xbox working with any of the AAA ones from that lists, but especially Amy Hennig's studio, which is rumored to be doing a Daredevil game for Marvel, I would absolutely love to see Xbox get that to counter the 2 Sony Marvel exclusive franchises (Spider-Man and Wolverine).

As for the others that interest me:

  • That's No Moon (major AAA talent at this studio, but I think I remember hearing rumors they are Sony 2nd party sadly)
  • Gravity Well (lots of good AAA talent here)
  • 31st Union (some good AAA here, and since they are 2K owned they will probably be multiplat)
  • Cloud Chamber (some great AAA talent here working on Bioshock 4, sadly Sony is rumored to have a timed hat on it)
  • Humanoid Studios (Casey Hudson is great, his name alone makes me hyped for this project)
  • Yellowbrick Games (some good Bioware and Ubisoft talent here)
  • Build a Rocket Boy (400 AAA developers working on a AAA sci-fi new IP, what more is there to say)
  • EA Seattle Studio #1 (AAA studio helmed by the former head of Monolith, very excited to see what he comes up with)
  • EA Seattle Studio #2 (Lehto was a great bungie dev, interested to see what he comes up with)
  • IO Interactive Barcelona (already working with Xbox on Project Dragon according to leaks, would love to see Xbox acquire all of IOI)

That’s No Moon is signed with SmileGate the studios behind CrossFire X, they invested 100 million into their 1st project. I wouldn’t be shocked if they ended up buying them since SmileGate want to expand in the West and also opened a AAA studio in Barcelona.

It also wouldn’t make sense that they would want to work with Sony, FYI that team was formed from the guys that were part of the unnamed San Diego team that were remaking The Last of Us. Sony didn’t want to put money behind them and they all left after their game was handed to Naughty Dog. So much for Sony focusing on “Organic growth” since their refusal to fund that team resulted in the creation of two AAA studios in That’s No Moon and Zenimax Online San Diego.

Also sadly Marcus Letho’s Seattle studio is confirmed to be working on Battlefield, but EA did create a new AAA studio to work on the new Skate but who knows how long that will last.

I mean, I wouldn't mind if Xbox and Platinum were to try doing something with Scalebound again. I would hope for more emphasis on SP though than whatever they were shooting for in the original game.

Although, I know with comments recently from Platinum about wanting to do a live service game, that probably isn't likely.

They should have an option to tap for screenshot and hold for record the last 30 seconds.

that's exactly how the share button works right now.

Platinum Games down bad for money.

Hope Phil gives the IP to another team to do.

Oh I didn't know that if you hold it it records, thought it only took sceenshots. I've been going to the menu and clicking Y to record my clips.

That'd be cruel

Doubt it would go down well with Japan either, Scalebound was Kamiya's creation even if Xbox own the IP.

But as I already said, current Platinum doesn't give me hope that they'd successfully juggle it, they seem to be struggling to work on all those projects at once, Babylon's Fall looks awful, other titles were MIA for years, they've stretched themselves thin and unlike Obsidian, I don't think Platinum can handle it well, it's a consequence of having to constantly have another project lined up though to keep the studio alive.

We all know the issues with Scalebound, Kamiya has multiple times came out to defend Microsoft, it very much looked like a case of Platinum taking on something too large for their capabilities and I don't think removing the MP would even help much with that, unless they scale it down a bit or partner with another studio (or maybe don't work on 4-5 projects at once, Lol).

Why not start smaller, Kamiya and Mikami working on another project together? I feel like if Scalebound returns then Microsoft needs to sit down with Platinum and have a talk about their content pipeline so we don't have another case of them taking on too large of a project for their capabilities.

Yeah same, PG doesn't give me much faith. That game that's coming up looks pretty rough. Only way I feel it would work is if MS acquires them, but according to everyone on the internet, MS not allowed to buy a Japanese company.

Lol, I get what he means but I really don't like this phrasing, almost a dig towards indies and Hellblade 1 was already an indie game! Indie means independent!

They called Hellblade “Indie AAA”, and considering the budget and team size it was. People won’t look at it that because it had high level photorealistic graphics.
