PS3 Better have something up its sleeve for holiday 2008. GTA4 will be nullified because it will be coming out to Xbox as well; so that leaves MGS4. If FF13 and GT5 aren't coming this year, that leaves a hole in the PS3 lineup for Christmas. 3 Christmases without a huge AAA release? That's not good. 3 Christmases is pretty much half of the lifespan for the average Console (assuming 5-6 years)

You're right, I didn't mention that. However, I think the only thing that could affect would be the HD vs Wii war, not PS3 vs 360. Even more importantly, I very much doubt that peripherals can significantly change the course of the console war as a whole, unless MS/Sony want to alienate their existing userbases by making the controller mandatory for all gamers. That would be almost like launching a new console.

We may know their plans but I think you are a little naive when you think that you can predict how this will play out. We definitely have too many analysts in here. So we know that the PS3 is currently outselling the 360 by 50k a week. Now add some price-cuts for both of them, big games like Gears2 and MGS4, BluRay surge or not etc. and you KNOW NOTHING.

We know their biggest games, we know what they're willing to do in the console war. You know what games you will get if you get a PS3 or a 360. You also know that most of the games are common to both consoles, and I don't see any reason why it would be different in the future.

 The problem is not that WE know what their strategies are, it's how the average joe will react when the event actually happen. Do we know what will happen during the christmas period? We can guess on the info we have, but the effect this will have on other consumers is a mystery....

 

Nothing is over yet, we are still 18 months into this competition and while some of the cards are on the table, I don't think the hd winner was announced yet... 

Personally i think that the PS3 will improve significantly, however what significantly means is open to debate...

I don't doubt that it will sell during Christmas. What I doubt is that it's enough to make developers change the multiplatform strategy.

@Kyros: Instead of saying that others know nothing, perhaps you should try to convince us. Tell us how those things can change sales so dramatically that suddenly developers would switch to making exclusives, and ignoring tens of millions of potential userbase.

I know it's very easy to say that others aren't analysts, but that doesn't do anything besides making it seem like you don't have any arguments of your own.

Convince you of what? That things change? LOL. You are funny. Last year in August the 360 was outselling the PS3 (by 2:1 or something). Add some games and the PS3 outsells the 360. Add some more games and who knows. Perhaps the 360 will win after all. I don't know, you don't know and all the self-appointed analysts on this page definitely don't know either.
The PSP was pushed over the top in Japan by a barely good game called Monster Hunter.

That the central point of my argument is wrong, of course. In case you haven't noticed yet, the central point is that the PS3 and 360 will never have different enough userbases to cause developers to make PS3/360 exclusive games (barring moneyhats).
