People defend a chip that came out in 2014 saying it is not overpriced, wow. Nvidia ripped Nintendo off as they do with everyone, then Nintendo decided to rip off consumers as well. It is not even close to being worth the retail price, clueless.

The chip wasn't even announced until 2015. 299 was actually a fairly reasonable price. Not a bargain but fair enough. And the package includes other things besides that chip. Far from a ripoff. At least at launch. It could stand a pricecut now.
And the time difference between chip release and the console is similar to the PS4. The PS4 GPU is essentially a Radeon 7850, which was a chip that hit the market in spring 2012. It was over 1.5 years before PS4 came out. The Switch was slightly less than 2 years from chip availability and launch. And as with PS4's GPU, the X1 was high end when it first launched in 2015.
This is a bit of a mixed bag for me.
I understand the reasoning behind going for a handheld only model, that $100 difference is a pretty substantial difference. This looks like the model that the handheld audience has been waiting for, plus parents who were hesitant on shelling out $300 to get the OG Switch can instead get them the Switch Lite. It essentially covers both audiences that the 3DS was selling to for its entire life span and really banked on towards the end. This is going to sell extremely well and lead the Switch to new heights.
But making it completely portable with no compatibility to the docking station so you can't play it like a the regular console kind of goes against the to purpose of the Switch. I mean, they could make another, smaller docking station and sell it separately like they're already selling the regular docking stations separately and these Lite models will be compatible with those, rendering this point moot. But from what I've seen and heard, there is no such thing in the works, so it just makes this model seem a bit contradictory. It's just a nitpick, not a major problem and not something that I think will have an impact in the long run, but it's something I can't help but notice.

I've only played my Switch on my TV like twice and it was to let the console charge while docked. If I didn't already own a Switch i'd consider getting the Lite.

I said the opposite. People get a lot of additional functionality for only $100 more, so there's no good reason why the price of the regular Switch should be dropped. |
So 199 for Lite is overpriced? Ok then, sorry for understanding it wrong before.

Overpriced??? It is a hybrid system with a really nice large display, with a TV dock. The PSP was $250, wasn't near as powerful, didn't have a dock and had a smaller screen. |
PSP launched as a very powerful HH system, not as a weak hybrid. TV Dock is something that possibly don't cost more than 20 bucks.

How is regular overpriced? It is cheaper than devices released a decade or more ago, and with inflation that's insane. |
The HW offered was budget level, with the shield counterpart (which is basically all the highest cost parts anyway) costed much lower than Switch.

You think the console should've been priced like the Vita or PSP even though it has more functions than those two, plus being able to play actual home console games? |
Yes it should be on a price similar to what Lite is launching at.
Because if you want to go the "it have more functions than PSP or Vita" (ignoring they are much older) then I could easily go to it having less functions than X1 and PS4 thus being to expensive comparing to X1 that you could find for 199 (249-299 MSRP) at the time Switch launched.

It is still hybrid and counts as a console =p.

No, neither SKU is overpriced. |
Doesn't make much sense considering the posts on this context you made. If neither are overpriced then also neither have a good price advantage and customers would be crazy after the dock as well if they buy the HH version and later want to hook-up to the TV.
For me it seems like you want to have the cake and eat it.

Haha, I’m the exact opposite with mine.
