Yeah they are between a rock and a hard place. They probably are desperate for next gen to start already but if they jump the gun too soon they could flop out the gate. But if they wait until 2020 when people will be thirsty for a new console then they will have to really suffer on for another 12 to 18 months. That's a hell of a long time to be sold 5:1 by your 2 competitors.

Well based on their no more gens plan, they could try and pull a Sega, but with FC and BC. Make XB1X the base model at 6TF, drop a 10TF-12TF console late 2019 and then a beefier model (16TF-20TF) late 2021. Have a $299, $399, and $499 model available. Subsidize them a little if need be. If that doesn't work, your pretty much screwed, so time to go software only like Sega. If it does work, you've got yourself a 'next gen' lead hopefully and your back in the game.

PS4 - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.
PRO -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.
PS5 - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.
PRO -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.
