Yeah they are between a rock and a hard place. They probably are desperate for next gen to start already but if they jump the gun too soon they could flop out the gate. But if they wait until 2020 when people will be thirsty for a new console then they will have to really suffer on for another 12 to 18 months. That's a hell of a long time to be sold 5:1 by your 2 competitors.

Heh, Japan and Europe view the Switch so differently. Japan is currently selling more Switches than all of Europe.

Absolutely they are bound to slow down, it's in its 6th year, that doesn't mean the time of PS4 is over and people are ready to move on though.

Well based on their no more gens plan, they could try and pull a Sega, but with FC and BC. Make XB1X the base model at 6TF, drop a 10TF-12TF console late 2019 and then a beefier model (16TF-20TF) late 2021. Have a $299, $399, and $499 model available. Subsidize them a little if need be. If that doesn't work, your pretty much screwed, so time to go software only like Sega. If it does work, you've got yourself a 'next gen' lead hopefully and your back in the game.

PS3   - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.

PS4   - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.

PS5   - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.

PRO  -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.

Ya pretty much, big games like KH3 and RE2 didn't really do much at all for it. PS4 needs some last big hurrah games(TLOU2) this year.

My thoughts exactly, kinda expected PS4 to obliterate Switch, especially with how relatively slow Switch's January and February have been. I guess more than anything it's a telling sign that it's time for PS5 to be ushered in. Still though, great numbers for both.  It's just a tad surprising. 

There is absolutely n reason that the PS4 will obliterate the switch. At this stage in its life no software will make any kinda meaningful impact. Only thing that can do any real damage is a price drop to $199. Not $249...... $199.

As i said last year too..... the fact that the PS4 is still selling this well just dashes any possibility of a price drop.

I dont think anything in particular is pushing it. I think this is just going to be its new baseline. Which i believe is a better indication of just how well a platform is really doing. How well it sells when it has n apparent reason to sell.

First ff they can't even d that... using the XB1X as the base console. It wont be FC more than a year into the new gen. The problem is the CPU..... next gen CPUs will be like 5x more powerful than the ones in the current gen consoles now. The kinda games that will be made for them will be pretty much impossible to port over to the XB1X.

And that whole have 3 sku on the market thing is just a bad idea.
