Forums - Gaming Discussion - Unpopular Gaming Opinions

1. Open world is a blight on the games industry.
2. The graphical arms race has done more harm than good to the industry.

Around the Network

1. A Desktop PC costing more than $750 is largely a waste of money. 1080p 60 FPS is fine for a gaming PC. Spending more than that results in diminishing returns so severe that the extra money just isn't worth it. (Yes, I'm guilty of spending way above that for my PC.) Edit: Seriously though the price to go from a 1080/60 FPS rig to a 4k/60 FPS rig is like $900.

2. PS4 and Switch are better gaming platforms than PC.

3. A videogame console should be for playing games and watching movies/TV. Any extra functionality after that is a waste. PS4, and Xbox both have bloated operating systems that are annoying to get through. PC is about two to three times as bloated.

4. Unless its on GoG, or an Indie the digital version of a game is always a rip-off.

5. Almost all FPS games are bad. The genre is stale. It hasn't moved forward since 2007. More and more FPS games are trying to be this Online-MMO-FPS thing and it just sucks. Destiny/Anthem style game design is bad.

6. Most fighting games suck. They either require plank level button presses to be good at, or include half their characters as post launch DLC.

7. FFX was horribly linear, with a cringeworthy cast, and nonsensical story.

8. Metal Gear Solid 2 is a bad game.

9. Devil May Cry 2 deserves a 4/10.

1. Xbox 360 is the greatest console of all time

2. Nintendo couldn't make a good console to save their lives. They also have some of the most anti-consumer policies in the entire industry

3. FIFA is the greatest franchise in gaming

4. Final Fantasy 7 is the worst of the PS1 FFs

5. Final Fantasy 13 is better than FF 12

6. Resident Evil 4 is the worst mainline RE game (excluding 7, since I haven't played that)

That's all I can think of for the moment.

The Xbox 360 really is the best console of all time. That's why everyone copied it. I say that with the utmost sincerity. Prior to the 360, I hated the xbox brand. It made a believer out of me.

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon is my favorite metroid styled one of the series

I agree and disagree with a lot of your opinions but I can't agree more with this. It's my favourite Castlevania or Metroid game. My favourite metroidvania title too.

This is turning out a lot like the purge thread from 2-3 years ago, except without the roasting element. @d21lewis. You suck!

What if the extra money above that is being spent on bigger harddrive/SSD, a faster processor or more RAM rather than just a graphics card though?

I put together two builds on pcpartpicker for comparison. One was a 1080p/60 FPS build with a cheap Ryzen 5, 8GB 2400 RAM, 580 GPU. The other was a 4K/60 F{S 2700X, 16 GB 3200 RAM, RTX 2080. Both had the same storage. Power supplies were slightly different due to the 4K build needing more power.

Personally I prefer having at least a 1TB SSD, but I have to admit that just going for a $17 120 GB SSD for booting windows is the better option financially speaking. That and a non-SSD for storing games.

While FF7 is my personal favourite which pains me seeing FF7R stuff, I can agree with you that FF8 and 9 were overal better games. Just facts that one.

But FF13 better than 12?... Unforgivable.

heh, I find it funny that FIFA has had "loot boxes" in the form of packs since ~2009, years before Mass Effect 3, yet never gets any of the blame for starting the trend

As someone who never played FIFA I didn't really know but you may be right.  EA is to blame...no surprise there. :P

Hmm, pie.

-Persona is the best RPG series of all time, but their company, ATLUS, is one of the worst I've ever dealt with.

ooooh, details needed! What makes Atlus so bad?

Speaking for myself, It's because Atlus changed professions and became a dairy farmer, not sure about shroomz his complaint seems to imply that he had dealings with Atlus that where poorly handled.

The dairy farmer thing is about 10% of the reason, the other 90% reason is their extremely inconsistent and shit stance on dealing with copyright.

I uploaded SNIPPETS of music from the Persona Dancing games, and my channel ended up getting terminated, meanwhile people uploading the FULL TRACKS from the Dancing games and PQ2 is a-ok as long as you trick the system I guess.

I'm now a nobody on the internet and I could've been semi famous if ATLUS weren't being fucking cucks.

I contacted PR about it several times, but they were useless and they pretty much talked down to me, acting like I committed rape, even though other people do what they consider a felony scot-free, so pardon me if I have a rather love-hate relationship with this company that doesn't give a shit about their fans.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Halo 4 is a vastly underrated game, and was the right way to bring the series forward. Halo5 however is a massive step backwards, undid all the good Halo 4 did, whilst also losing a lot of the Halo identity with very generic multiplayer and bland campaign.
