Forums - Sony Discussion - Friends, gamers, VR players lend me your.. opinions on Playstation VR.

I do not like teleporting around. This is highly disorienting for me. But all the other games not with that as a core feature are just wonderful. I especially wanna mention RE7. An absolut must play masterpiece for me. The first time I had ot stand off against an enemy was so exhilarating that my hands started shaking. It was a weird mixture of feelings: partly fear - this game can be very scary, partly excitement to play something completly new and unknown to me. I like horror games but the horror was not the big take away for me. It was the feeling of immersion, presence, immediacy and realism that no other game ever achieved for me.

I cant wait for dreams to release. It will get PSVR support after launch. One developer said he built a little helicopter sat down in it and just started flying around in VR - and suddenly he felt like a kid again - the wonder and joy VR is able to intantly instill in the player is without an equal. There are already many must-haves for PSVR, but dreams will be of another kind in its magnitude.

I was certainly intrigued by the ps vr, but I was very very disappointed. For one, I can’t play it for very long without feeling sick, maybe a half hour. Also, the resolution is so poor that it ruins the quality of the experience, it’s like playing things with ps2 level graphics. Honestly, my ps vr is just a paperweight, so I would definitely not recommend it personally. However, some people seem to really like it.... so there is that...

Have you even played newer titles like Moss, The Persistence, Astro Bot or Wipeout? Because this "PS2" comparison you made is downright ridiculous, if you have.

There are so many games now you can play however you want. I prefer to sit down and use a ds4. I'm dealing with a back injury atm so standing and fast movements are kinda out for now. $199 is a steal for what it delivers. You are basically buying another console to play on, it just happens to plug into a ps4 to work :)

I'm currently playing Tetris Effect and while that has a VR mode, I must admit proper sound and HDR add more to that game. It's very cool in VR however you quickly notice that a lot of effects are simple 2D sprites, which you don't notice on tv. The end sequence is definitely euphoric in VR though.

I have the breakout box on top of the ps4 with the cables neatly looped and tied to keep it all together. I move the ps4 around with all the stuff on top between my primary and secondary tv so I'm switching hdmi cables all the time anyway. You do need two power cables as the breakout box has one as well unfortunately. Setup is not much of a hassle anymore and it's quite flexible for camera setup as long as you play sitting. For room scale play you do need to pay more attention to camera placement yet most of the time I just have it sitting on a cabinet at waist height, off center, pointing slightly up and it works fine.

Start with something easy on your senses. Allumette is a great free example where you are just inside the world (short movie). Moss is an excellent game without movement to get used to the head tracking and looking around. (It's like Trine going from screen to screen). Wayward sky has some movement, just like Astrobot which is currently one of the best games for psvr. Superhot is another 'static' title which is best played standing so you can move around and duck behind cover. Statik you play seating all the way through, excellent puzzle game,

When you feel comfortable in VR with your own movements, you should be ready to take on RE7 and other slower moving games. RE7 is great since it uses the ds4, starting with analog movement is a lot more comfortable than the on/off movement of the move controllers. Dirt Rally is great for racing, not too fast and a complete game. Wipeout has a lot of comfort options, yet you are going upside down anyway!

Too many great games to list, step into the magic!

Well I have decided to get one. I had a $50 Gamestop gift card so I went for the $200 one. Downloaded the PS+ VR games, and some other free ones preparing for it.

I had PS move controllers from my PS move days, so I hope they still work. Although I'd probably prefer not to use them.

Anyone play creed? I enjoyed PS move boxing games a lot.

Creed is one of my favorite tiles so far. It is a workout though. I completed the story mode, but it was basically one fight a night at the end of my VR session. After finishing training and fighting, I was dripping in sweat, and foggng up the lens.

Much like many other genres I have experienced in VR, I can not see going back to a Gamepad and TV based Boxing game again. Grabbing the Move's, strapping on the head set, and entering the ring is what I always dreamed Games could be.

So... You set it up yet? Tried it out? Watched some porn? Joking, I know a respectable person like you wouldn't go in for that sort of thing but have you played any games yet?

Went the lazy route - shipping.  I think it gets here tomorrow?

Probably going to go something simple first. No move controller.

I suspect I will get motion sick. But I've read it is something you can possibly get used to.

Try it out a little, take a break. Try again later or the next day. Repeat,

Plus I downloaded a lot of free stuff and stuff from PS+ etc.

Yea, that seems to be the way many ppl grow their "VR legs". If you feel a hint of nausea just stop the play session and resume an hour later (or a day later if nausea persists). Ginger chewing gum/candy seem to prevent motion sickness to a degree btw.

A lot of ppl reported that "rest mode" might not play nice with VR tracking (I don't know, as I always turn the PS4 off), so you should begin your VR sessions from the off-state.

The amount of easy to stomach demos/free stuff which don't require a Move is quite a bit limited, but tumble VR, Headmaster, Super Hyper Cube, Astro Bot, Moss, Star Child, The Kitchen, Statik, Bound (fixed cam, the follow cam is definitely "intense"), Until Dawn:Rush of Blood (better with Moves) and the short movies/videos (Invasion, Crow, Allumette, Joshua Bell VR, etc) should all be fine. Playroom VR is aswell, but most of those mini-games require a 2nd local player.

TBH with PS5 around the corner I would wait and see what improvement are on offer there.

I was debating updating my PS4 to a PS4 Pro but now with the rumors kind of pointless

I don't expect PSVR2 to release the same year as PS5, so hopefully PS5 will be PSVR1 compatible, potentially with some automatic IQ enhancements, but to really ramp it up devs very likely need to release patches.

@PSVR 2 conversation. I've never cared for keeping a console sp intact as my two ps4's incase PSVR 2 never comes or isn't BC. If this happens I'll be buying another pro anx another headset right away. It has become my most treasured worldly possession and I'm known to give away my consoles once they've served their use to me, I even shrugged when my 360, ps3, 300 euro TV stand and seemingly at the time my ps4 was smashed to bits in a drunken row. I havn't treasured a possession so much since I was a child.

I wish RDR1 would get a PSVR port. It transformed Skyrim, imagine what it can do for read dead with either head tracking for aiming (RE7 style) or move or aim as choices. RDR with aim would be amazing and solve all the problems I have with the shooting mechanics. I never dual wield anyway. Plus being ab;e to point at what you want to interact with will solve a lot more issues.

Dishonored and dead space are also on the top of my list of what I want to play in VR. Yet we are getting Borderlands which I haven't played yet beyond the first few hours (it was free before in ps+). It was good but didn't have the time to continue with it before. I'm glad for that since now I'll have a full game I haven't played yet to play in VR. At least I hope it's the full game, I guess I should check on that before getting too excited :)
