Dropped to 81. One more point and my prediction is correct!

Thanks for letting me know. Will update the thread.

Edit: Done.

Everyone talking about a lack of content...

Compared to what? The IGN playthrough took 40 hours and he's only just got started on the post-game, barely touched co-op and doesn't seem to have filled out his Pokemon roster? In what world is that insufficient for a single player game?

Sure, if you want to look at it through the narrow prism of previous Pokemon games then its got some adjusted or missing features, but that is by design.

I don't have a Switch yet. But I do want one for Zelda and next year's Pokemon. In the meantime, I don't at all begrudge Nintendo for trying to make a more accessible Pokemon title for less hardcore players. It can only grow the brand.

As I feared, all the critics are giving this game a pass.

Nice conspiracy theory... You said it deserves a 67 on another thread

How did that work out? Your blind hate of gen 1 is common in a small group of the pokemon community and will not hurt this games imminent success.

I dont hate gen 1. But the fact is gen 1 is always over represented. Most of the mega pokemon in X/Y, were gen 1 mons. Game freak used a very nice “alolan form” concept, but only for gen 1 mons. Now gen 1 is getting a second remake, while sinnoh any at all yet.

But lets say okay, fine to another gen 1 remake. Now, why exclude pokemon like scizor or steelix, who is an evolution of a gen 1 mon? Or how about at least give us sevii islands? Nope.

Oras did this right by including mons like gallade, evo of kirlia, which only came into existence in gen 4.

Besides, most of my complaints for the game isnt even because its gen 1. Its removal of wild battles (which were in the originals, btw), held items and abilties (which were in firered/leafgreen), making it piss easy to get shinies (diminishing its novelty). Cant battle randoms anymore, and wonder trade has been removed too.

Never said the game wouldnt sell (of course it would sell, duh), but the fact remains, compared to recent pokemon games, this looks like a husk of one.

And to repeat, I dont hate gen 1. I hate the over representation of gen 1.

This is no conspiracy theory. The things that are removed/not in the game are confirmed to not be there.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Alolan forms of gen 1 are garbage and lack creativity. Sun and moon is a disappointment it lacks gym battles and those z moves are weird. So if your benchmark of pokemon apex is the last gen that was released then this game is far better than the 67 you claim it deserves

Fighting wild pidgey and geodude is not in any way what makes pokemon great. Raising your pokemon and catching collecting are the main points plus exploration which is in its prime now wuth these amazing graphics that allow kanto to shine better than 20 years ago and 15 when the remake was released.

Sun/Moon were great pokemon games. The totem battles felt more like boss fights than the gym leader ever was (which was just normal polemon just two or three levels wbove normal). Alolan forms were qm awesome idea, especially exeggutor and ninetales.

No, wild battles are a huge part of pokemon, which make catching feel more rewarding than this waggle based minigame will ever do.

Better graphics wont make kanto any less of a bland region. Sun/Moon had more side areas to discover than red/blue, so there is no way exploration is in its “prime”

Lower than I expected. I was thinking at least 85.

I doubt I’ll be getting it ever, due to the extremely casual nature and the fact that we’re getting Gen 8 next year.

I usually support the things you say man but this time I think you should change your mind. The game was made to reward all old school players from the 90s who always were dying to see what kanto would be like with modern console graphics. I played it at an event and it was awesome. You can avoid wild pokemon by running around them and that way you are not stuck running from 30 rattata and zubat lol then there is rematches and raising pokemon in a more satisfying manner than havinh them spam ember 100 times on wild pokemon before each gym battle. BRO GET THE GAME even if its in a year when its 34.99 on black friday

I’ll think about it. If I’m being honest though, I really haven’t played much of the games I’ve bought recently, mostly due to work. I have to be really hyped for a game in order for me to motivate myself to buy and play through it fully nowadays. I will be getting the gen 8 games for sure.

Gyms > alola

Isn't this how your logic works?? If it lacks something it sucks? Well lacking gyms fights is waaay worse than lacking the ability to pound dumb weak wild pokemon like rattata zubat oddish 1000 times per playthrough

Alolan designs are underwhelming and have very few interesting pokemon. that game was not better than this one. i played both already and while both are more child oriented than anything before X & Y at least this game has one of the greatest gens backing it and the power of the switch.

Alola is not a better map than kanto its lore is not better neither are its characters.

Stop being so obtuse. I never said if it lack something means it bad. But Let's Go lacks MULTIPLE things with no good replacements for it. Sun/Moon lacks gym fights, but it has a replacement in totem fights which are even better.

Alola has some of the best designs. Rockruff line, Decidueye line, the tapus, ribombee, kommo-o line, the list goes on. One of the best regions too. Have fun with your pile of sludge, pokeball lookalike and three magnets stuck together.

Kanto is the worst region in the series.  Very plain and forgettable. Every other region outdoes it by a big margin. Characters are so-so in like every pokemon game so this is moot point to even discuss.

You don't have to verse wild pokemon if you dont want to. Repels and the "run" option are there, you know.

Seriously, take your nostalgia glasses off already. We arent living in 1999.

Totem fights better than gym battles? WTH? that is preposterous, its pointless with this conversation especially after you said kanto is bland and forgettable then claim you do not have blind hatred of the most money making and popular gen of all. You mock muk and voltorb and forget all the horrible pokemon designs in sun and moon. pokemon red and blue and yellow may have had a ton of flaws but the villains, towns, rival, designs, map, music, and themes all are superior to sun and moon IMO and that of enormous amounts of fans that exist since day 1 of pokemon's creation.

Ironic you say nostalgia glasses THE PRESENT IS KANTO AND THIS GAME, NOT SUN AND MOON. KEEP HATING ON IT ALL YOU WANT! if any gen is forgettable and bland its gen 7 even the anime is the most hated of all the seasons. sun and moon is on level with black and white in quality and creativity not Gen 1,2,3,4 so keep your hatred of lets go pikachu and eevee while most pokemon fans purchase and enjoy this amazing game living in the now! :D
