Once a system's successor is out, you shouldn't release any more major titles on it. NIntendo was stupid to release the game on an obsolete system instead of its booming successor, it's as simple as that.

Yeah, its pretty straight forward logic. Nintendo is only to blame at the end of the day, No one else really.

Yes because by your logic: If Prime 4 releases in the final years of Switch nobody should buy it because Nintendo should've released it on their next platform and it's Nintendo's fault for the game underperforming.

This is what I don’t get..people should be aware of the development time. This game started back in 2015. By that time, the 3DS was still selling fine and the Switch was still called NX. Sakamoto and MercurySteam planned for the to be on 3DS development because that’s what Sakamoto planned it for. Yes Sakurai already planned for Ultimate, but it was during December 2015. For all we know, Sakamoto planned the remake much earlier than that. So it’s not as simple as “should’ve been on this.”

if that’s the case, Sakurai should’ve made Kid Icarus Uprising for the Wii U instead of the 3DS. But he didn’t as he planned it for 3DS. Links Awakening should’ve been an N64 game but it was planned for the Game Boy. Yes plans can change, but if they don’t, they don’t.

Games can change platforms. They could've given it a HD facelift for Switch and pushed it back to 2018 and it would've sold way better.

It's unfortunate, since the game is a blast. Really hit the spot after so many lame games after Prime Trilogy.

Hm? There were only two? Didn't Prime 3 come out like 10 years ago though? *blinks in confusion*

Nintendo had to have some idea of what might happen releasing it on 3DS after the Switch had already released though. I'm sure development was easier, so it was probably a trade-off between sales and production costs. Same thing happened to Fire Emblem Echoes...which was my personal favorite FE on the 3DS.

NNID: Zephyr25 / PSN: Zephyr--25 / Switch: SW-4450-3680-7334

it should be rereleased in hd on switch. i would buy it right away. i just don’t use my 3ds anymore.

I want it. I just don't want it for my 3DS.

Super Metroid is actually one of my favorite games of all time... And I haven't bought a single game in the franchise other than Super Metroid... Mostly because they weren't released on the hardware I wanted at the time and because Nintendo tend to shut down fan projects.

All I can say is that I'm not excited to play Metroid games anymore. The NES Metroid is one of my favorite games of all time, but the others I have tried just don't feel right for some reason.

On a somewhat related note, I think Axiom Verge is great and would recommend it to any classic Metroid fan.

To me, NES Metroid is the best in the franchise, closley followed by Prime Triology on Wii (I put it as one game since that’s how I played it).

They should have released it on Switch, rather than 3DS.

All these “it should’ve been on Switch, not 3DS” comments make me cringe.

Like I get it, Switch is a more relevant platform, but considering how many people own a 3DS, if that’s seriously the reason you didn’t bother to buy the game and play it, then you probably didn’t care about it in the first place.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

They can re-release it on Switch with HD graphics.
