Forums - Sales Discussion - Global Weekly, 4th August 2018, Software

Came for the Nintendo downplaying, was not disappointed.

Spiderman will absolutely be the top game and likely be a mainstay like God of War for the months to come, but to suggest Nintendo will magically drop out of the top 10 with Super Mario Party, Pokemon and Super Smash Bros. coming is quite the lapse in logic. FIFA will be the next PS4 heavy-hitter, toward the end of the month, then Red Dead Redemption 2 and Black Ops 4 in October, and Battlefield V I'm sure will chart despite all the controversy surrounding it.

I think the Top 10 will have a much more even distribution, especially from October onward. Mario Kart 8 DX is unlikely to leave the Top 10. Super Mario Odyssey may remain as well. Splatoon 2 it will depend on the week (it could easily be pushed down to Top 20).

As it should be. Ps4 was often pulling these numbers when their install base was between 20 and 30m aswell.

Which is still more impressive from Nintendo comsidering the lack of 3rd party support. Can you imagine if Nintendo had 3rd party support, the numbers would be astronomical lol

No they wouldn't because the vast majority of third party sales would still go to playstation and xbox.

Not if they had 3rd party exclusives like Sony and to a lesser extent Microsoft.

Today is the end of an era. For the first time since its launch, Skirym Switch no longer appears in the Global Weekly.

Nintendo often have had 3rd party exclusives. If they had every game the Nintendo third party games would sell much less then they currently do because the switch fanbase would have much bigger choice.

It's like in Japan, switch titles in general sell more then ps4 but total software for the year is actually higher for ps4. It's just the sales get spread out over far more titles.

Or more likely the overall software numbers would remain similar but would be spread over more games...as is the case with PS4.

3rd party support is just a bonus for Nintendo anyways, We all know that the switch will still sell even if there is no 3rd party support because people buy nintendo consoles mainly for nintendo 1st party games, heck if Nintendo  just put "Mario" in every title they make i wouldn't be surprised if it sells decently atleast.

Threads like these always shows whose pro Sony/MS/Nintendo amongs us users.

You have to listen to your Sony-colleagues on this thread, the games will be bought on Switch because there is nothing else.

Let's see when Doom Eternal will  drop.

Wouldn't be surprised if numbers for Switch version where in-between the 2 other versions .

For many multiplats Swich numbers are actually already in between the other two: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=236419

But for Doom and Wolfenstein the Switch turned out to be the lowest selling platform. Seems shooter-fans aren't flocking to the Switch.

I'm talking the big AAA third party sellers like gta, rdr2, cod, Battlefield, battlefront, fifa and the list goes on and on. Ps4 already dominates over xbox usually 2 to 3 to 1 in terms of sales. It would dominate the switch by an awful lot more me thinks.
