Out of the Top 10 titles this week, 8 of them are Nintendo Switch.

Y-yeah, no.
It won't be total "Nintendomination" like it is this week, but Mario Kart, Mario Odyssey, and/or Breath of the Wild are still going to be charting the top 10 in September and October.

It's the calm before the storm. I don't think we will see any Nintendo games for the next few moths on the charts.

Nintendo won't stay dominant, but they should have a couple of games in the top 10 for the rest of the year.

Ps4 #1 overall software seller again this week. Won't even be close when the block busters start getting tacked in a few weeks.

The power of Mario Kart is truly something else.

Mario Tenis at 1M. Congrats! Mario Kart is a beast on it own and Zelda still charting high is ridiculous.

I'm amazed at the legs of Zelda. The new game formula for BotW was not only revolutionary in terms of gameplay but also clearly in terms of sales for the franchise. Can't believe Zelda is competing with Mario in weekly sales.

And of course Mario Kart, the port, is just ridiculous. Winning weeks well more than a year after it came out. I wonder if Smash will affect its legs by giving it competition for THE multiplayer game to get on Switch in the west.

Of course Nintendo will still have games in the top 10 this fall. Big PS4 or even Xbox games will make a big splash for a few weeks then go down below Switch's perennial sellers. MK, Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon should all mostly stay in the top 10 this fall, Mario Party will get up there for a few weeks, then of course Pokemon Let's Go and Smash will be in the top 10 as well. Next year we could very well have 6 Switch games that mostly just stay in the top 10 week in and week out.

Switch is gonna take over the industry from PS4 next year. We already see it dominating the top 10 every week this summer, despite not having a single "major" game come out yet this year. Next year instead of 4 perennial selling Switch games living in the top 10 we could have 6 games basically setting up camp in the top 10, and that is before Pokemon or whatever other big hitters they have next year. Pokemon Let's Go and Smash are gonna super charge Switch going into 2019 and if Nintendo throws out a couple new bombs for 2019 other than mainline Pokemon along with perhaps a XL version and a price cut on the OG Switch it's gonna start dominating software and hardware.

When a Toadstool puzzle game that is a port from Wii U is the 9th best selling Switch game of the week and outsells every single non-Nintendo system game except for THE major release so far of the year for PS4, well that makes what is coming pretty obvious - total Switch domination next year.

Sadly like other Nintendo consoles I can already see the end of it's lifespan. After Smash and Pokemon are that'll be the end of Nintendo's titles that anyone cares about. There's really nothing left other than to start the cycle again and sequels to titles already on the console aren't going to keep the hardware going for long.

Unless 2017 was a freak outlier and 2018 is the template for what the rest of Switch's lifespan will be like; 1-2 big games per year, ancient ports and scraps for the other 10/12 months.
