I highly doubt the Switch would just sell 2 million per quarter for the rest of the fiscal year. It would be likely if we ignore the fact that the holiday season boosts the sales of every game system.

Its still a dumb statement because it completely ignores the holiday boost. They shipped just under 2 million in Q1 so that would mean no boost whatsover to get to 8m shipped.

A professional analyst should have the common sense to factor in seasonal variations in sales, its one thing to say they will miss their 20m forcast (very possible) its a totally different thing to say they will miss it by 60% and be down ~45% YoY.

Surely he must be trolling? Unless Smash and the holidays are canceled, there's no way Switch is only selling 8 million for the entire fiscal year.

He has a ton of influence on people that matter, people investing in video game companies on the stock market. And I dont see the problem with that, Pachter is brilliant at his job in the field.

Right.  Commenters here are taking this out of context.  He's just extrapolating out numbers based on a slow first quarter.  He did not say that he thinks Switch cannot pass 8mm, he's just working with the data that actually exists.
