Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii vs Switch vs 3DS vs PS4 : shipment accumulation by declared fiscal quarter result

Yea that's what i thought, people are saying Switch is doing bad while it's so close to the PS4 with 1 holiday against 2. It's literally keeping a better pace then the PS4 right now even tho it had a pretty big drought. If Nintendo don't do the same mistake again and bring back big exclusives, i can see the Switch keeping up with the PS4 for several years and maybe finishing close to it or even beating it.

Except you’re forgetting that the Switch is much cheaper than the PS4 was. And had a separate launch and holidays.

NS is showing a better trend than 3DS, this looks to me like the most important thing we can get from those data.

Q1 is really bad. It's getting crushed by the Wii and Ps4 same period of their lifecycle.

Switch is doing well now, but it's final sales curve is going to look like the DS. The DS did pretty well in its first couple of years, but then it really took off to unprecedented levels. Expect to see that from Switch next year. The people who don't think the Switch will clear 80m are in for a huge surprise.

low bar much? Ps1, ps2, ps3, ps4, Wii, GBA, DS, X360 all cleared 80 mil. That's not an accomplishment, if it doesnt oursell the Wii then Nintendo has declined

As long as its selling more or less on par with the PS4, which it is, everything else is gravy. That's more than a good enough sales pace for now. The key for Nintendo will be maintaining momentum in years 4/5/6, what its selling now is more than fine.

So Sony is declining for over 10 years now since they can't get close to PS2 numbers anymore? By your own logic, yes, they do, PlayStation is doomed.

My personnal theory about why Nintendo has not revised the forecast :

If they still manage to reach it, this will make a very strong buzz in the medias. If they fail and announce 18,9 or 19,3M, 99% of the customers don't give a fuck about it. Only the 1% of experts in VGCHARTZ and the investors will care, which at the end won't influence the 99% of consumers who are planning or not to buy the console soon.

Current PB on Secret of Mana remake : 2h27 (2nd)
Strongest worldwide achievement on TGM : 1st European S13 rank
Fastest TI MASTER in Europe : rank Master V in 5min10
Current PB on Power Ranger (Game Gear) : 10min06 (World Record)

Non-geek activity : ThermalHungary

LET'S FACE THIS FACT : The Switch is the last physical video game system of the history who has a chance to beat PS2's sales.

Ya missing the goal really isn't a big deal since it's such a high amount, I mean PS4 missed their fiscal year target once and nodoby cares.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Yeah it doesn't really matter if they don't quite hit there forecast, from the moment it was announced it seemed far too ambitious. It just inspires silly expectations in forum users. Everyone else couldn't care less. Ignoring the 20m figure ever existed, shipment figures are going to be very very good for this FY

LTD: PS4 - 125m, Switch - 110m, XBO - 51m

2020: PS4 - 9m, Switch - 22.5m, XBO - 2.5m, PS5 - 4.5m, XBX - 2.8m

They'll probably revise the forecast after Christmas in January. No reason to do it now and needlessly but a cloud over the holiday rush.
