Would the attach rate reflect the GC games I've kept and play regularly on the Wii. Between the great backward compatibility, WiiWare and the Virtual Console with all those great old properties the number of Wii games purchased (12 in my case, hope to make it 13 tomorrow morning) is only part of the story.

Here are the shipped software numbers through 3/31/08, the above data is through 12/31/07

Wii ~ 148.4 million/24.45 million Wiis

GC ~ 208.4 million/21.74 million GCs

DS ~ 369.6 million/70.6 million DSs

GBA ~ 376.6 million/81.06 million

Wii Software: Wii Hardware = 6.07:1 (10% increase)

GC Software: GC Hardware = 9.59:1 (unchanged)

DS Software: DS Hardware = 5.24:1 (2% increase)

GBA Software: GBA Hardware = 4.65:1 (unchanged)

Thanks for the numbers, TheSource. What I find especially interesting is comparing the software shipments for the Wii between Dec. 31st, 2007, and March 31st, 2008. If my math is right, nearly a quarter of the system's software lifetime shipments occurred in that one quarter, a quarter which is traditionally quite slow for software sales.

Somebody hold me, 'cause I'm a little scared right now...

Wow. So DS software has basically passed GBA software in real time... And Wii software is flying towards GC software too, with several million-unit launches this quarter.

And without discounting price on any hit first party games, either.
