Forums - Sony Discussion - I'm buying a PS4 Pro, need advice

Which one should I buy?

Original PS4 2 7.69%

PS4 Slim 4 15.38%

PS4 Pro 20 76.92%

Total:26

Ok, guys. E3 was kind of meh, but strangely enough it convinced me to buy a PS4 Pro.

I sold my original PS4 (with P.T. demo) early last year as I thought no (or few) game(s) that interested me would come out for the rest of the gen. But it seems like PS5 and "Scarlet" are late 2020 releases, and many games that interest me are popping up.

The absolute must buys for me will be Spiderman, Ghost of Tsushima and Kingdom Hearts III (the whole trilogy to be honest). There's also RE7 and RE2 that look amazing. I hear Nier Automata is awesome as well, so I'm interested.

So I wanted to ask a few questions about PS4 Pro:

1- Is the difference noticiable if you don't own a 4K TV? (I plan on buying a good one, but this will only happen early next year)

2- I heard there is a way to configure settings like performance (fps) and resolution. Do all games have this options? Or at least the majority?

3- Is it noisy?

Since the difference in price is not big, I think if I were to buy a PS4 again, it would be the Pro, so I'd like all information I can get. Thank you guys in advance.

EDIT: Which bundle do you guys consider the best? Forgot to ask about that too.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

1 For me the difference is visible enough to warrant a €100- extra. But I own a 4k screen. Some games defenitely run better/more stable on pro hardware.
2. Its getting more common that you can choose your settings but I would not say a majority. Ni-oh and God of war did though.
3. On some games during intense moments it can be, but usually its pretty quiet.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

PS4 pro is a must if you're doing vr imo.

1. Yes, there is. If someone wants to argue otherwise, they're simply being insincere or are just outright lying.

2. It's a minority of games. There's Boost Mode, but that's hit and miss.

3. I wear headphones, but when I'm playing MHW solo, I do notice it gets really loud.

What ever you do don't buy that blue console.

Get a PS4 Pro the newest update take much more advantage of the PS4 Pro even if you only have 1080P tv and the PS4 pro will be an easier sell before the PS5 come out.

Every one is expecting the PS5 to be fully backward compatible to PS4 so your game library should carry over.

If you don't currently own a PS4 and can get it at a reasonable price, I'd say the Pro is a no-brainer. Better image quality and performance to take advantage of Sony's great looking games even if you don't own a 4k tv. Maybe not quite enough of an upgrade to justify buying a brand new console if you already own the base model, though.

Be aware that when your Pro is delivered, it comes with a man that plays the banjo for 5 minutes before unboxing. Then after onboxing there is a man with a bugle for 5 minutes before you can turn the console on.

Both of these are un-skipable cutscenes.

PS4 Pro in my opinion!

So many new PS4-games in the last and next months, enjoy it = ) And "The Last of Us 2" looks awesome.

Get the Pro, i might be picking one up at the end of the year, not sure what games to get however i think TLOU Remastered and TLOU Part 2 are no brainers.. its like Halo for Xbox. Depends if you are into Zombie styled games.

the pro is the only way to go with ps4, trust me.

the Ghost game and Spiderman was all i saw worthy of buying. but even that, I would lean for the ps4 pro.
