In the 1950s it was general consensus that white men and black women shouldn't marry each other. If you thought otherwise your opinion was definetly questionable.

Just a practical example of how general conensus is subjected to bias as well of personal opinions. Should we really give all this credit to it?

When the majority of the scores result in an "80", then a 40 questionable. That's the point.

That why smart and informed consumers would actually read their reviews. Your only trying to discredit their opinion because people get emotionally attached to what they want the score should be. People writing these reviews are professional that have a reputation to maintain, they want go out f their way to make one bad review for click bait unless there where actually something they dint like with the game. They were probably over critical but they have a right to their opinion. Also, their two reviews have minor negative impact on ththe score once you get over 50 reviews. Once you played the game and read the reviews and a few other reviews by the reviewer ... then we can call in their questionable 40s review.

80/100 seems like a good score, definitely looking forward to play this game sometime in the future.

It has nothing to do with an emotional attachment. Just common sense. And I'm playing the game. A 4/10 is absolutely ludicrous and it seems that most sensible reviewers agree. :)

It's common sense that Detroit: Become Human isn't 4/10? Video games are completely subjective, you can give a 4/10 and still be perfectly right because nobody can discredit it.

Sony does it again. Another exclusive over 80! For the type of game this is the reviews are good. If Sony want to get these David cage titles above 90 they need to hire a top class industry writer and allow cage to just direct it.

But its his company so his ego probably wants him kept on top. Anyway another successful ps4 exclusive. I'll get this when it's on sale.

Yeah, I'm thinking this holiday season, when I can pick it up for $25-$30.

What I "think" the score should be is irrelevant to the idea that scoring something too low, based on the sum of its parts (and a general viewpoint), can bring in the notion to question it. People are entitled to their opinions, just like I'm entitled to frown at them.

No. Common sense to question a very low review when most others grade it much higher (did you read that at all?). Don't jump into a discussion without knowing what we're talking about.

OK, I did jump in quickly, but after reading it I still don't agree with what you said, I remember having an essentially identical discussion with GoW though.

These kind of games are a love it or hate it type of game. An open critic score of 80 is fine. The users seem to really like it. Take Until Dawn for example I loved it and I expect this to top it. So I will probably give it a higher score because I love these type of games.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Without the review-haters, the game would be around 84-85% worldwide.

Yeah, because if someone doesn't like a game you like, they're obviously haters. Video game quality is 100% objective. I mean, why the hell are these reviewers reviewing a game based on their own experience? They should review it according to what KazumaKiryu thinks makes the most sense.

No you can’t. To justify a 4/10 the game must be a broken mess, which it isn’t.

Happy to see the user score at 8.7 atm.

Honestly, his games don't need to do above 90 (most games don't score that high anyway). And the writing really isn't bad. Similar to Beyond's and miles ahead of Heavy Rain's. This is their best work, without a doubt!

Oh yeah I don't doubt all that. But if they want to try and push towards 90 what would you suggest they do? I understand this type of game finds it harder with the reviewers but what could be done?

@VAMatt yeah I'll get this on the Christmas sale too. Don't want the backlog getting too big so no point me getting this now.

Nope, assigning scores to games is completely arbitrary in the first place, as there is no standard metric at all for what the numbers entail. You may not agree with the 4/10 score, but that doesn't mean that it's invalid.
