Never played Splatoon 2... so by default it's 1 for me. Totally willing to though... I just don't own a Switch.

Have you tried giveaways?

Is someone giving one away?

Well there's usually giveaways going on somewhere, at some point. Last time I caught one right in its last day, and a couple of days later voila, I had a Switch! (well technically I don't have it yet, but, it'll get here eventually)

Oh that makes sense... I think it would be more worth my time to just buy a used one though.  And since I'm saving my money...........  no worries though, I am going to boot good ol' Splatoon 1 up here in a few.

I could not even tell the difference between both games' tick rates :P

While I love Splatoon 1, I prefer Splatoon 2. More variable weapons, more stages, Clam Blitz is really fun, Salmon Run is awesome (even if I get my @$% handed to me at times), and the single player has more variety in terms of gameplay and weaponry. Plus, the Octo Expansion is primed to create even more great single player content.

Though I do give the nod to Splatoon 1 in terms of music. I can never get some of those tunes out of my mind and I think the original main theme is better than Splatoon 2's, though that's not to say that 2's main theme is bad in any way. Plus the final boss in single player was epic.

For the record, Splatoon 2's soundtrack is miles better than the first.

I think its debatable. Splatoon 1's main theme (Splattack) is memorable and it'll probably be the first thing fans will use when showing people what Splatoon is all about (I mean, it was used during the Inkling's introduction in the Smash Bros. teaser). Then you have Callie and Marie's Ink Me Up, which is great for Splatfest. The single player music is also no joke, not to mention the epic final boss themes.

Though I give credit to Splatoon 2's music, its really good as well. I kinda like Pearl and Marina's main theme over Callie and Marie's, though I could probably change my mind any given day. The multiplayer music is good as well as the single player. Salmon Run music is a nice change of pace, considering the atmosphere of the mode. Plus, I cannot wait to hear what's to come with Octo Expansion, if the main theme of the expansion (presented in the initial trailer) is anything to judge by.

splatoon 2 by far for me i played splatoon 1 and put it to the side after some months. Splatoon 2 has me coming back all the time simply for salmon run

Definitely the 2nd, but man oh man do I miss Saltspray Rig and Mahi Mahi Resort.

One of the only things I don't like about Splatoon 2 is they didn't bring back Ink Strikes. That was my favorite Special Weapon in Splatoon.

I think that's one special weapon that could have been better balanced, especially when it, combined with Aerospray RG, was a bit OP at times in Turf War. But yea I missed that special. Though the Tenta missiles aren't bad replacements.

Tenta Missiles are incomparably more OP than Inkstrikes lol. Probably one of the only specials that actually got better in Splatoon 2.

Eh, they could but it depends on how many enemies you're able to get a lock in. Plus, Inkstrikes are really good, especially when you need to get some extra ink on turf at the last second. Not to mention, you can inkstrike anywhere, even if there's no actual target.

You've been missing out on something big. :D

I think everyone in here could say that to another about a game they haven't played.  But, sleep easy tonight... I'm really happy with what I have :)

I suspect once the Octo Expansion is out it'll be a much easier win for Splatoon 2 in my mind, simply because I'm primarily a single player gamer, and the expansion's 80+ levels should give it a massive advantage over the original in terms of single player content.
