Forums - Nintendo - New details about the Nintendo online services surfaces!

Also, to everyone saying it's cheap, I wouldn't quite say so. It's basically $35 a year per system, unless you only use on a single account - which sure, you can even if you share the console with other people, but it is a nuisance.

It's basically $35, but then you explain how it's not lel. I don't see any major reasons why you need online for more than one account. In some cases that'll even be preferable, for instance in MK8D every user will be contributing to unlocking kart parts.

Just share the same account with the people around the house. Its mainly for online, so i dont see that much of an issue.

Its not like they will complete the game for you and spoil the story.

Yes, but, it is lame. In a game like Splatoon for example, you wanna go about it unlocking weapons yourself as you level up, buying and powering up your own gear and building your own set, have usage stats for each weapon you buy and of course, move up the ranks in each ranked mode. If you're sharing an account, you lose all of that, and worse, you're risking losing ranks (which in turn means boring games with and against worse players) depending on the other person's skill level.

Paying an additional $15 for those things alone is the worst.

Well yeah.I never said it was a perfect situation, but you pay for what you get.And I mean, I dont think its that much different for other consoles(If Im wrong please correct me), so for the price it asks, I think its reasonable.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

You think anyone playing a game like SSB wants their stats and online records fucked with like that? No one wants that shit.

You know you are really negative about everything? Its really annoying sometimes. It makes you seem like a 100 years old guy.

Answering your question, yeah it can be a bit annoying. But many play just for the sake of playing, so for many that wont be an issue.Im not saying its an ideal situation, but its not bad by any means considering the price.

I don't think you're wrong, if I remember correctly the Xbox 360 was the same, but that was way back in the day. Don't really know how it works now.

Either way, the only thing I really really care about is an improved online, and it doesn't seem like we're getting that. It's been almost a year since Splatoon 2 and it's still absolutely baffling that it uses PvP and has a worse tick rate than the first game's, which was already very bad - this is a game Nintendo is (vaguely) trying to push as an eSport, mind you - I can only imagine how worse it'd be for other games. I mean, this shit is just unacceptable. I'd pay $20 for a Splatoon 2 and a Smash 5 that I could play online with no lag or disconnects or input delay or whatever bullshit, but I don't think that'll happen, so I've every right to be disappointed.

Well, they didnt go into details, at least not greatly, so lets see if they will bring dedicated servers for their own games at least.Or if they will restructure the service completely. We will probably hear more at E3, though not necessarily on the conference itself.

With the paid service we can expect dedicated servers as the $$$ roll in for Nintendo

Very cheap online compared to the competition and 20 free NES games (with online!!!) to start. Sounds pretty awesome I'm excited!

I rather like what I'm hearing tbh, surprised people are reacting negatively.

Now I have a doubt, with the family group, will people be able to find other friends to reduce the cost? is what everyone says on twitter xD. If that is the case, this could be a great deal.

Switch Friend Code = 5965 - 4586 - 6484

PSN: alejollorente10

The app BS almost ruins it for me. Like, it's bad enough that I have to use my phone to accept or send invites but this is gonna be on a game by game basis where most like likely 3rd party games won't support because they have to set it up themselves.

Why does Nintendo have such a problem with making things universal on an OS level? I would like it if by default I could get invited or invite someone for any game or voice chat game by game basis doesn't work, when are they gonna realize that

I've been playing Splatoon 2 a lot (I think over 100 hours at this point) and I think I only had a couple of disconnects in all that time, and I don't think I ever had an input delay.

The first Splatoon was really bad, that was a very painful experience even though I loved the game, and don't get me started on Smash....

But the point is I honestly can't see how Nintendo didn't improve their online, it's waaaaay better than in the Wii U days.
