Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Dark Souls Switch delayed to Summer 2018

I wonder, in case the delay is because Namco releated reasons, what was Kimishima's reaction?

He does not seem to be very patient.

People had their hopes up too high if they ever expected the Switch to become the primary destination for third-party support.

Getting one big third party support here and there is to get hopes too high?For every noteworthy game that the Switch gets(that is not first party), PS4 and XOne gets 10.

This is not asking too much.

I didn't say anything about asking too much, obviously people should demand more out of the publishers/developers and I'm fine with people critiquing them. What I meant is more on a personal/emotional level, I think the best approach is to continually demand for more while also not expecting it so that the blow won't be so bad when something like this does happen.

This destroys our opportunity to do a direct 1v1 for the Switch market.

That is really a pity, I looked forward to a first chance to compare game sales of a somewhat big game head to head. We'll have to wait for the next chance.

my greatest games: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023

10 years greatest game event!

bets: [peak year] [+], [1], [2], [3], [4]

If this releases in june or july i'm not getting it. I have to buy Mario Tennis Aces, Crash, Y's VIII, Octopath Traveler, Captain Toad and Mega Man X collection, plus any games that I missed in May like the Mega Man or Street Fighter Collection.

I might not play Dark Souls because of this.

So, what you are saying is expect changes, but dont expect them?

I mean, I understand what you are trying to say, but thats just contradictory.Plus, there are gamers that really want to play said game on the Switch for numerous reasons, but just going with the mentality "Ah, its Nintendo.Companies dont treat them well" and just be dismissive of the situation rather than trying to adress it and showing the companies the mistakes they are making, is wrong and counterproductive in my view.

Plus there are the people that just owns a Switch and no other system.What are you going to say to them?Dont expect games?

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

But if you demand changes, you expect them to happen.After all, you are demanding them.

Not really. I often make posts pushing for socialist revolution on this site, but I sure as hell don't expect it to happen.

Oh I am sure some colorful words were exchanged over the phone given Nintendo clearly put weight behind this.

I am slowly reverting back to buying all multiplats on my PS4 unless I NEED the portability for the game. Other than that, I guess I will be using my Switch for Switch exclusives from here on out.

I am about as optimistic as they come when it comes to concessions for portability and waiting for the Switch versions of games. However the delayed release dates are starting to become a real problem for me. This does not affect me much as I was passing on it anyway, but there are many others that do and the news of it all is putting a bad taste in my mouth.

Yes I know they need the extra time, yes I know it is still early in the Switch's life...but a lot of these games should not need to be delayed. Dark Souls is a PS3 game FFS, and seeing how LA Noir was day and date with the PS4 remaster, there is no excuse for games like this.

It is really becoming appearent that 3rd party games are an afterthought on Switch to make a quick buck from the rapidly growing install base, and I cannot support that.

I still love my Switch and will still have a ton of games to play on it, but I will say that it is good to be a multiplatform gamer so I do not get caught up in these unnecessary delays.

If things improve in the following years, I will revisit the topic. However as it stands for now...

Switch=Nintendo exclusives
PS4=Everything else
