Excellent insight. Please tell us more about your experiences so far in the game. How many hours in are you?

Bwahaha, nice try. I'm sure you'll stick to that precedent you set for yourself and never speak an opinion about a game you haven't played. I won't hold my breath.

How do you give an opinion on something you havnt played? Please explain.

Would you take a reviewer seriously if they came out and scored/reviewed a game that they havnt played?

Why nice try?

He called you out and you confirmed he was right.

That was not a try, that was ownage.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Let's take a look at thismeintiel's post that's being critiqued here.

> "Rare's most ambitious game" isn't a huge promise?" Defining that huge promises were made.

> "Instead people are getting bored after a couple hours." Says that people are getting bored of it. Not him. So ... good, so far not lying. How can we know whether or not people are getting bored after a couple of hours? Testimonials. What platform are we using, right this very minute, that can easily be used a testimonial regarding the game's quality? The internet.

> "And seeing everything the game has to offer in under 4 hours." A continuation of the premise set up by the previous sentence. Obviously influenced by other peoples opinions of the game.

You guys act like he was making broad sweeping claims about the game that were so ridiculous only a player could form an opinion on them. Instead he pretty much just said what every reviewer has echoed, what every player has echoed, what every streamer has echoed. A lack of content. You can argue with him if you want to, but it seems highly suspect to make fun of someone and say they were given "ownage" because they are giving a general statement on a game that almost everyone who's played it agrees with. It really seems like you are only calling him out in this specific instance because this is a game you like, this standard is surely not something two-three users are going to apply consistently to themselves.

You could say he's being a bit too snarky and I'd probably agree, but that is totally up to perception since this conversation is text based. Personally I think there's a difference though between your perceived quality of a game before playing it, and the quality you feel the game maintains after playing it, and it's totally fine for him to have a perceived notion of how good a game will probably be ... because we all have these notions in our head before we play a game. People only call them out as ridiculous as soon as they're negative.

I would love to be in a room with whoever comes up with this stuff.

"Well, the numbers are in."

"How are we doing?"

"Could be better. Could be worse. Not great."

"Ok, lets start from the top and work our way back. How does it stack up against our other first party games? Can we use that angle?"

"Ummm, well, it sits pretty low on the list."

"Ok, how about, first party within the current gen?"

"Still not all that great. I don't think we can spin that."

"Ok... wait... what about this."

"Dear god..."

"What about... first party, within the same gen... and....."

"And what?"

"...and NEW IP! Huh? Huh?"

"*Sigh*... (checks the data)... Yeah, we're good there."

"Yuuussss! *fist pump*... Ok, get that to our PR guys and spin the shit out of it!"

"*Sigh*... fuck..."

It ain't all that difficult when I can count their major new IP's this gen on one hand...

I think the problem is too many no name heroes like to dish out opinions based off others rather than there own personal experience.

If you take his word for it than you clearly would take a reviewers word for it if they havnt played the game. Thats honestly how dumb it sounds.

For the record there are also gamers out there enjoying it after 4 hours so each to there own. So you spouting out Everygamer also puts your post under an assumption.

The game is niche and dont judge it until you play it. That goes with all games.

So yes he got owned with his own comment.

Do you realize how contradictory this is to this:

"How do you give an opinion on something you havnt played? Please explain."

Reviewers are there to review products for people who HAVEN'T bought the product. You're simultaneously saying you can't judge a game without playing it(a.k.a. most of the people who care about reviews), but then saying that you wouldn't trust a reviewer who hasn't played the game they're reviewing ... implying you do trust reviews and take their opinions seriously when judging the game...

Anyways that analogy is pretty bad. No one cares about a random persons opinion that much on an internet forum. And most people don't care about most reviewers, they only care about a select few.

Would you read a review on a game that the reviewer hasnt played? Thats exactly how some people sound in here. Just like i wouldnt listen to randoms shouting claims and unprofessional opinions on the net.

Reviews are guidelines nothing more.

It makes perfect sense.

I've watched quite a few videos now and the game looks absolutely amazing and a visual treat but it so clearly needs more content and fine tuning of gameplay and that is probably incoming over the next year, so it makes sense for me to wait. I mean perhaps 6 months from now not only will it be a far better game but much cheaper.

From what I've read on some forums many think the same so I really think this game will have continue to do well. It just seems pointless paying full price now and then waiting for the content etc. I'd rather have the full experience later on.
