Why's everyone shocked that the PS4 is doing so well despite being old? Don't consoles usually peak during years 2-4 anyways? They seem to do a lot better when they're older and cheaper than when they're new and shiny almost every time. I remember the DS started off pretty miserably before nuking the competition when the 7th gen started.
As for the Switch, I think we're past the point where Nintendo's competitors need to suffer in order for Nintendo's consoles to blow up, so I wouldn't call 3rd place "losing momentum". This isn't like a few years ago when Sony and Microsoft would take almost all the marketshare at the expense of the Wii U. The Switch seems to be creating its own marketshare without cutting into the sales of the others like the Wii did at the start of the 7th gen.
PS4 still doing quite well even at $299.99 and $399.99. That is great news for Sony. They have to be rolling in hardware profits on both units now. Will be interesting to see how things go in March, but I think April will be insane. God of War is going to see massive advertising, and I think it is going to review extremely well.
At this rate they may be able to stick out the $299.99/$399.99 for quite a while longer. Might as well drop the price to $249.99/$349.99 for good this holiday, and save the $199.99/$299.99 price cut for the PS4 Super Slim and Pro Slim units in 2019.

My "doomsday post" clearly addressed that. But I can't stop you or anyone from being sly, nitpicking and shamelessly taking my statements off context. My post was a mild call out to the deluded users who kept having unrealistic expectations for the Switch to the point of affecting my independent judgement. That said, I still think Switch's 2019 will be a phenomenal year, and possibly "crush" PS2's peak year... how is that for a "doomsday" post? You can't take a negative input on Nintendo-related things, can you? |
Ahhhh, so you admit trying to taunt those who had higher expectations of Switch in Feb (I, not one of them since I actually havent made any predictions since Dec). What is the actual point of that?
2nd you're giving credence to Switch's evergreen titles (last of which was released 6 months ago) while simultaneously discrediting a NEW huge seller (Monster Hunter) as having an impact on console sales for Feb. Ooookay...
3rd, why would Switch's performance hurt my feelings? I'm already on record in this thread suggesting that Switch did well in Feb all things considered. Plus I never made any NPD predictions for Feb, again why would my feelings be hurt? Seems as if YOU are trying to create something that isn't there like you're accusing me of doing lol

Switch did not won every month even last year, but that doesnt mean that Switch losed momentum, point that Switch sold less than PS4/XB1 doesnt mean its loosing momentum.
Wii U 2.0!? You do realise that Switch passed Wii U LT install base few months ago, Switch now sold 280k in its first February, Wii U sold 66k in its first February.

They mock him because he speaks positively about the PS4 on a Nintendo website. When I first registered here, I had no clue there were so many Nintendo guys on here. |
No, people mock up him because he constantly just trying to downplay Nintendo sales, over 95% his posts are only negatives about Nintendo, and very often wishful thinkings. For instance, he constantly saying that Switch sales will start slowing down, or talking about NPD sales, evre month he saying that Switch will be worst selling console.

It's losing momentum in comparison to the PS4 and because it's selling less than last year now. |
Fact that Switch is selling less or better than PS4 last year dont mean nothing, momentum is comparing Switch sales with past Switch sales. Switch is not selling worse that it is selling last year, this are numbers for February and Switch was launched in March.

I don't get what's so hard to understand, switch was doing ps4 numbers every month, this month it had a bad month compared to ps4 average February sales. the one February ps4 sold bad was because of stock issues. |
You are one that still dont get it, point that Switch sold less than PS4 in February, dont mean in any case Switch is losing momentum, especially when you look those NPD sales numbers for Switch until now. Fact is that 270-280k for January-Febraury is good number in any case, esapcily with point that Switch had only Bayonetta in that time and despite that Switch keeped momentum, and looking at future Switch lineup sales from March-April can be only stronger compared to January-February.

It's not really hard to predict when you predict the same thing every month. A broken clock is right twice a day... |
Basically, he saying every month that Switch will be 3rd on NPD sales, so of course some time he will be right.
I think PS4 is currently peaking while Switch is barely getting started. Almost like comparing apples and oranges with how different Switch and PS4 are and how far apart they were released. And America has always had a fondness for Xbox moreso than other major markets so it's not too surprising to see MS narrowly claim 2nd here in the US.
Kind of a down time for Switch, a good chunk of Q1 and Q2 are littered with ports, re-releases, and "B" level Nintendo games like Kirby and Mario Tennis. The effect of the big game changers like Zelda (and Mario Odyssey to an extent) are wearing off. There still hasn't been enough time for most major third parties to jump on board with games that aren't ports yet because I'm sure the vast majority assumed the Switch would fail, so once that changes that will help somewhat too.

It happens because said person uses a weird uncalled quote that isnt remotely true and has been proven otherwise with post that are half this thread
So if Ps4 doesn't win the month It's doomed, an if it does then Switch is doomed, we still have a long way to go till end of the year, surley we can see if any is doomed

The PS4 is in its 5th year. No one expects it to win any month against a first year console.

That's not true, there were people that predicted the PS4 would outsell the Switch in the prediction thread:
