Not even mate. Just saying that there are those that are mining that are of enthusiast level, and really, anyone that were to buy one for mining would have reached that level anyway.

The thread was about cryptocurrency, not another attempt at spitting on a group of gamers.

Btw, people can build a mining rig, and still use a totally different rig to game.

Why not cool the sword first?.

I'm sorry I didn't tailor that well for your incompetent reading comprehension.

For you to even think I was attacking PC gamers in the first place boggles my mind.

Peace out.

Lol look at the assumptions he made about me. Impossible to have a conversation with carry on like that.

Wow, this has to be the Universe saying "No John, Don't get back into PC gaming, stick with console, you'll be better off". I was starting to get excited putting builds together and working out budgets getting myself some virtual reality on the PC until someone, thankfully, pointed this out to me here on VGC. It's not happening now, by the time I've put everything together and ready for the Vive pro the card I'd end up buying will cost more than everything else combined. Fuck this noise.

Yeah for gaming console is definitely the way to go for the next few years at least

This is so annoying. Not only is it hard for a gamer to get hold of a good GPU, but all this mining is such a waste of money and energy for a task that is essentially useless (the artificial calculations needed to uphold cryptocurency security) and that could be solved for a fraction of that cost. Billions of dollars are wasted on useless calculations when it could be used for research or something else that is productive.

If you already have a PC you can pretty much just "ride the storm" until shit calms down.
But for new PC builders it's a shit time to be building a new rig.

I was thinking about buying another GTX1080 to pair up with my current one.. guess ill wait a little bit longer.

What do you expect? Passive income is nice. Setup the rig and watch the money roll in. With the bull rushing lately, profitability is achieved even faster.

Trust me, miners aren't buying these cards at double retail. Ebay prices are nonsense to get a few suckers. Just setup some nowinstock alerts and be quick.

Etherium will go proof of stake soon, which won't require mining going foward.

With this, prices should start falling when second hand GPU will start to appear so they can get ROI after the mining segment has ended.

And new coins that will be the trend going foward, should adopt proof of stake also, the proof of work that required mining will soon be gone.

Ethereum moving to proof of stake will have negligible impact on mining. NiceHash will just drop daggerhashimoto from its potential miner and ZCash will be the popular coin to mine for profitability. (Or any of the dozens of other profitable coins)

You can't snort coke through a bitcoin....

My PC isn't even on par with the ps4 and my laptop, I'd reckon, is not far above the ps4. The PS4 really is the best gaming experience I have so I'll have to wait until this "storm" passes.

Don't worry the ps5 will be out in 2 years.

You'll be waiting a good bit (pun intended) longer.

My PC exceeded the Playstation 4 years before the Playstation 4 released.
All I did was upgrade my GPU to a Radeon RX 580 before the prices exploded.

This rig is going to be gaming better than consoles for over a decade.

Considering the mining craze (GPUs) even expends now to CPUs with background mining and the continuing high demand for RAM, it doesn't look like it will be over anytime soon
