Capcom needed a good win after whats gone down lately with stuff like SFV. Good stuff. I've had it since its released but I have yet to play it :(

Why not it's a fighting game? Just pop in a 3-5 min match.

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

So I think this will stop the over-shipped posts. I saw 1 or 2 posters on the 5 Million shipped thread telling us that it's over-shipped.
Anyway, congrats to Capcom for delivering a great game. It is well deserved.

Also, moving forward IMO a Switch exclusive is a bad idea. Multi-plat from day one is the way to go.  A Worldwide release also did wonders. I hope some Japanese 3rd party will learn from releasing it day 1 for WW.
Namco should take notes for Godeater 3 and KT for Toukiden 3.

That´s just amazing, especially considering the implications here:

-The series has finally succeeded in breaking through in the West and it´s becoming a gaming phenomenon, it wouldn´t have been possible if it remained confined to handheld systems

-It´s great seeing Capcom´s fastest selling game ever is achieving the feat on consoles, which leads us to the point below

-Success stories such as this, plus the PS4 and Switch success, warm our hearts in light of the fact a few years ago, there was scaremongering surrounding the death of dedicated gaming hardware by mobile (if you ever bought into it, that is)

-Capcom was in need of a major win, now show me RE2 remake

Its been like 2 weeks right? and now its 6m+ shipped.... nice.

Are you sure about that?.

That's assuming the port job is of excellent quality, and millions of players have all decided to wait 7-9 months for the port job. Meanwhile Dauntless is available for access, as well as other titles that are relatable to MHW.

earth to chazore : no one cares about dauntless

I only remembered the name of it, because he mentioned it before.
I again went to watch a trailer and was like "thats it?", then looked at release date,.... it still doesnt have one.
it just says ~Q2 of 2018.

Also I think your right, MHW isnt loseing any sales to dauntless.

That's an awesome achievement and a well deserved one for Capcom, can't wait for its PC release. I believe it took months for Final Fantasy XV to sell that much and that game was overshipped from the start, Monster Hunter World will be the best selling japanese multiplatform game of this gen with ease.

Easy 4+ million in Japan.. can't wait to see how much the actual numbers are from outside Japan

I thought in japan it was only at 1.6m so far (physical copies)? So its probably abit over 2m includeing digital?

So you think the numbers could still double?
if the same thing happends worldwide, we re talking 12m+ for MHW.

Yeah, I get the feeling that the whole Dauntless following is just wishful thinking tbh. I just don't see it eating into that market at all. It's kind of like the "me too!" MH game for the PC market ... but there's already a shit ton of better games on PC and when MH world comes out people will just play that.

I actually did care about Dauntless around the time of E3 or maybe a few months after it ... had to be reminded of it though. I was eager to play it after I saw someone cover it, then  I saw it wasn't on steam, then I also saw you had to sign up for it ... and I just didn't care enough. It's always been a side attraction I think, the moment Capcom decided to put MH World on PC it was pretty much done for.

It's super forgettable, has a forgettable name, and it's just not interesting. Eh.

But SFV shipped or sold  more than 2.5 millions units.

OP: MHW will be the best selling MH game.

Thats pretty much a flop for Capcom and SF's standards imo. I agree that MHW is gonna easily be the best selling MH game as well
