How is it for you?

So far it's pretty cool and a little intimidating with how much stuff there is to figure out. I'm still playing around with the weapons.

I felt the same when I first started playing, infact I found it all a bit too overwhelming with everything going off that I turned the game off and decided to go back to it later that day. However you’ll soon get used to it and it won’t seem all that bad. It’s s great game once you get used to it.

I wish they did a breakdown of the shipments by console.

MHW is PS4 exclusive in Japan and it sold just under 1.6 million physical copies. Assuming it has a 10% digital attachment rate, it will bring total Japanese sales to about 1.75 million. However, considering that we're talking about shipments, not sold-through numbers, Japanese shipments may be up to 2 million.

For the sake of the argument, let's just say MHW shipped 1.75 million in Japan. That leaves 4.25 million for the rest of the world. We know that the platform split was 72% PS4 and 38% in the UK for the first week. We know that platform splits for Japanese games and JRPGs heavily skew towards the PS4 in continental Europe and MHW is also PS4 exclusive in Asia. The best scenario for the XB1 in the WW - Japan platform splits, in my opinion, is 80% PS4 and 20% XB1. That would put the XB1 version shipments at 0.85 million.

Monster hunter in Japan sold out week 1. Week 2 95% sell through.. There's nowhere near that sitting on shelves.. Plus digital should be around 20% because of shortages..

We have an actual number for Japanese shipments. According to this Tweet, 60% of the 6 million shipments are outside of Japan. That means 40% of the shipments, or 2.4 million, come from Japan alone and is effectively and exclusively the PS4 version.

Capcom. "Monster Hunter: About 60% of overseas sales at the time of shipment of 6 million copies worldwide."

Any tips on weapons best at dps or best overall? I rather try to master a weapon I'll still use later in the game versus flip flopping around.

I’m not really sure which weapon is the the best overall for DPS. I just tryed them all in training mode and quickly narrowed it down to 3 weapons which were the Insect Glaive, bow and duel blades. After that I tryed all of those on proper quest and then narrowed it down to 1, the Insect Glaive. It’s got a low damage compared to other weapons but hits fairly fast and I’ve always preferred agile quick combat style so it fits it nicely and it also felt the most comfortable for me when in fight.

my advice would be just choose the one that feels best for you. You’ll get plenty of upgrades and you’ll have various different types of that weapon in the end. For example I have four Insect Glaives now; an Ice one , thunder one, fire one  and poison one, depending what I’m hunting I’ll take the one with the element that the monster is weakest too.

So far, I like the hammer, long sword, bow and like you, the insect glaive. I think I'll end up using the hammer or glaive late in the game.

The hammer's combos,  damage, charged attack mechanics and being able to roll is what I like about it. Only thing is that I'll have to learn the monsters' behaviors and patterns to maximize the potential of that weapon since it doesn't have much reach and it's slow.

I really like the wide attacks/reach, speed, mobility and being able to string combos with the glaive. I probably won't use the aerial attacks all that much. Getting used to using the bug in combat is gonna be fun.

Switch Axe ftw. Only problem is I suck at all other weapons now. Tried longbow on an easy monster with my advanced armor and weapon and fainted once against him embarassingly.

Hopefully, this will finally put to rest those over-shipped comments.

Amazing game and so far the game of the generation for me. I see it hitting 10m in its life circle. Should be easy considering its all most platforms and with the PC version coming out.
