Then why does it say "Switch shipments reach 14.86" in the homepage news feed? This is confusing.

That's strange for not one but two reasons:

1: Why wouldn't VGC wait to be sure before writing "sold" instead of "shipped"? And even stranger is...

2: Why don't they simply update the article and change "shipment" with "units sold" in the title?

You could be right of course but this is strange nonetheless.

Not only has Switch outshipped/sold Wii U's lifetime numbers, but Mario Odyssey has outsold every single game released on the Wii U in just a little over 2 months.

others sources like gamesindustry and gematsu put sold instead of shipped too, i think some writer will update the article title later.
