What? Innovation which actually is smart and without card Box?? Dare you Sony.

I think you meant improvement. It's just an extension of the Motion controller design.

I think they were joking and meant, without cardboard (boxes)? How dare you.

Similar to the PS meme's towards XB1 like, we made VCR's too. Now for Nin it's like, we sell cardboard too, with hardware inside.

Cool. Now let's have a top gun style jet fighter SIM.

I still wish they could just somehow design a DS4 that splits in half, for VR usage.

Finally. It's not a secret that PS Move isn't the best of the bunch. Eight year old Wiimotes+ work better than these.

Something like this? https://www.dualshockers.com/rumor-another-playstation-4-controller-revealed/

All the rumour about splittable PS3 and PS4 controllers over the last decade.

Sony even had patented the idea several times:

This is one of the biggest negatives I've heard for PSVR, so it's good that Sony is adressing it, wether it'll be for current gen PSVR or next gen PSVR.

I don't really understand why this couldn't be supported on current PSVR though? Anyone with tech knowledge that can explain?

That is strong BS you're spewing here. Move is vastly more precise than the Wiimote.

It's still not as precise as Rift and Vive of course.

There are some games, like Skyrim, where you can play with the DS4 in the left and a move in the right hand.

The article states that the controllers don't feature light sources anymore as tracking input, which makes sense, since it's a method prone to error on the Moves. Instead they seem to be tracked by a new, undefined headset...similar to the Windows MR headsets now available. It's pretty much a given that, like those Mixed Reality headsets, a new PSVR (mkII) headset will also feature inside out tracking ( tracking made possible by special 3D cameras on the front of the headset ) which will also track the controllers, so no additional camera will be needed for tracking purposes. PLUS the controllers will also include finger tracking!

This also implies that both headset and controllers will use a completely new system which makes it unlikely those features will be added to PSVR 1. Like you already said...the only reason I can see, why Sony doesn't want to update their Moves with sticks, is not to alienate early buyers and yeah...maybe, possibly PSVR2 already around the corner, just like PS5.

! Here's hoping that stays in the patent abyss. Half of a dual shock in each hand would be legendarily terrible.

Why exactly? I tried it with a DualShock4 in each hand and it was comfortable besides the weight distribution. Every stick and button was at the right place. With two halves the weight distribution & total weight should be fine.

Of course you would separate the halves only for motion controlled games and stick them together for other games.
