60 fps won’t happen for most games because many third party game developers will always chose better fidelity over high frame rates. The increased CPU will hopefully be used to simulate larger, more vivid worlds and better A.I. and physics.

I also don’t believe in the two versions at launch possibility. It would unnecessarily divide the market at the start of the gen and next gen consoles will finally be real “true 4K” consoles first and foremost. 8K won’t be a thing for quite some time. I’d even say it’s unnecessary. VR/AR/MR will be the new thing the consoles will be focusing on.

I dont think you will see better  ai or physics because the 1.6 ghz ps4 cpu is the bottleneck there

We were talking about next gen consoles.

Then this is no question with more ram better cpu and better gpu the worlds will get bigger

Way too early to tell. I expect them to drop the price early next year in order to keep momentum. 150,- is just too much of a gap and VR and Sony‘s blockbusters will make the Pro sell better next year. From a technical standpoint the X1X seems impressive on the GPU side of things but unbalanced as a whole. The CPU seems underpowered for the bigger data sizes it needs to shuffle around which leads to a worse performance than on PS4 Pro in a considerable amount of games. In case developers start to use the enhanced Vega chipset features like half-floats on the Pro, that the 1X is missing, this could have an impact as well. FarCry 5 is rumoured to do so. We‘ll see and wait if third parties outside Sony will make use of it.

This post is exactly why I'm a Nintendo gamer.

Worlds are big enough, we need more detail and complexity on worlds.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

In US? maybe

WW? probably not

It needs to have legs to be a true success, which time will tell. I think if it outsells PSVR, then it might be a success as both had similar pricepoints at launch.

How the sales of a niche accessory are some measurement for a new console?

Care to explain? You are a Nintendo gamer because Sony IPs and Pro+PSVR will keep PS4 leading?

As I said, because price. At those prices both were/are niche at launch.

So if it sells less than PS3 that launched at 599 it is a flop?

I think it accomplished it's main goal. Offer the most powerful console to gamers who love XB and crave specs. Everything else is a bonus.

But if $399 is price theyre aiming at in 2020, I wouldnt anticipate a massive CPU upgrade while aiming for 4K with bettter graphics.

The X1X is four years later, $500 but not a masive upgrade outside of GPU.

So Im genuinely curious what specs in 2020 look like. As I've suggested maybe a budget $399 and premium $599 console should exist at 9th gensl's launch. Both have a 60 fps pushing CPU while the GPU would differ significantly. Like 10TF versus 20TF or whatever. So the $399 specs still has 4K potential but not a priority. Personally that ideal for me given ai dont care that much for 4K.

Nah, the difference will be immense since they’ll finally move to a new architecture, probably Ryzen based. The slight upclock Pro and 1X got isn’t really worth mentioning. New games that make use of the next gen CPUs won’t be able to run on the slower consoles without big cuts, so I really expect Microsoft to do another 180 with their “we’re done with generations” talk, because in that case the X1X would hold back game development for some years, since Sony has clearly stated they want a real generational leap. If they stay the market leader by a wide amount Microsoft will have to adapt their strategy.

60 fps won’t happen for most games because many third party game developers will always chose better fidelity over high frame rates. The increased CPU will hopefully be used to simulate larger, more vivid worlds and better A.I. and physics.

I also don’t believe in the two versions at launch possibility. I’d even say it’s unnecessary. VR/AR/MR will be the new thing the consoles will be focusing on.

We could theoretically have better AI and physics with the currents CPUs. I could argue last gen CPUs had more potential then we saw as well.

Even when new consoles launch, the Pro and X1X may be in demand at around $250 and they will get cross gen ports for a few years. The average game is not extremely CPU intensive, atleast at 30 fps. A $60 PC CPU can run virtually any current game pretty well assuming there is no GPU bottleneck. So Im not convinced quite yet 9th gen consoles will have amazing CPUs. But they will likely be better equipped for 60 fps.

I feel the 360 and PS4 got phased out for ports because RAM and GPU issues primarily. Meanwhile Switch is getting ports because the GPU and RAM are upgraded significantly over 7th gen, even if CPU is lacking. Hence, a device like X1X could thrive for a while thanks to the significant midgen upgrade and it will be cheap hardware when 9th gen starts.

But its all speculation at this point.

If it stayed at that price.
