Nice! It's on track to outdo my 12m shipped by year-end prediction handily and will very likely outsell the WiiU within it's first year on the market. If it manages 14m sold through it will be on par with Ps4 for it's first year. All around impressive.
I'm curious to see how it will do in jan/feb, that's for sure.

Good for Nintendo, but not good for those who care to have better hardware. If one can expect flaws in one's system of choice to be improved on the next time they release new hardware cause they want to keep motivation of people to buy it, well Nintendo does not have to worry about that. Why improve hardware, just create new concepts (which is fine, don't get me wrong on that) Why improve current flaws? People are going to buy the machine anyways.
Examples: Why better battery life? 3 Hours for games like Zelda is fine, people buy it regardless, Why choosing better CPU's and GPU's. The Tegra 1 chip chosen was already outdated by the Tegra 2 chip when the Switch was released. But Nintendo still went for the inferior Tegra 1 and did that stop the sales? Nope. Why making a home system, a dedicated one I mean? People don't seem to care about that, they seem to think some kind of cross system is the same as an actual home system. About chatting, everybody including some Nintendo fans agree that their solution to chat in online play using cables and a smart phone, is bad, really bad but does that stop the system from selling? Nope, so why even bothering to implement a simple chatting system as you see on PC/PS4/Xbox? No reason since people buy it anyway. Ok then at least this hardware means a cheap retail price? Nope, it's as expensive if not more expensive than other systems that are way more powerful like the PS4...

Bottom line is that the only true winner here is Nintendo, fans not so much and hardcore gamers, not at all.
Too bad cause I would have loved to one day explore the realms of BOTW or play Mario in his Odyssey or play that 4th episode of Metroid Prime as I really enjoyed the first 3 episodes back when I had a GameCube and later on a Wii. My hopes so far were that one day Nintendo would make better hardware that would bring their games to modern day graphics but Why would they do that? What motivation for them to do that? There's always a slim chance that they do cause no one can tell for sure what will be done in 5 or 10 years from now but the chance is small really small...

We are on a sales site. Everybody here agree that Wii U sales were laughtble despite being a great console, Wich are the reason that many were and still defending it.

I'm not sure where my 100 hours in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 puts me now though.

Those people should have better standards. HW is not everything yet Switch is a great piece of hw for its size. It doesn't need to have the best specs in the market to be a great console.

Wii U's first year ended at 3.9m so Switch outsold it a long time ago. I've checked and Wii U passed 10m units on August 1st 2015 so 2 year and 9 months after launch.

People are talking about what the sales mean and how it looks like it's going to sell in the future. 

Maybe contribute to the discussion instead of just hurling shit at the people who are?

OP: That's very impressive. It is nice to see Nintendo doing so well, and admittedly, better than I had initially anticipated.

As for the PS4 comparison, it should pass the PS4 launch aligned very soon. Though obviously it won't hold in to that lead due to the misaligned launches.

Oh, and interesting bit of info regarding this comparison. The week ending 12/30 for the Switch is the week Destiny launched on the PS4. It sold 600k units that week.

It does not hurt me it saddens me. And I explained why. Cause it will totally kill any motivation for Nintendo to significantly improve the hardware.

Don't take it personally, I only mean what I say from my point of view. I am expecting to play some Nintendo games one day, but these news make me realize that I may never do that cause I don't see motivation over at Nintendo to create more suitable hardware.

Again from my perspective. If you enjoy the Switch, good for you pal, that's fine and I have nothing against that. I just need to understand that I may never play some games I would have loved to, that's all.
