Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So, was 3D World better than Odyssey? S-P-O-I-L-E-R-S

So...

3D World 14 14.89%

Odyssey 49 52.13%

Galaxy 28 29.79%

Crash is better 3 3.19%

Total:94

It's difficult to say. I would say that I felt as though 3D world fulfilled the majority of its potential while Odyssey had you feeling as though they could still explore more to this face of Mario we've all grown to quickly love.

Does it make either entry better? It's up to the individual honestly.

Now that some time has passed I gotta say...I liked both games...but I think I came closer to completing 3D world...while I’ve still only completed about 50% of Odyssey. I may get back into it and I’ve enjoyed the game so far but often I’ve obsessed with 3D mario games until 100% completion...then again maybe it’s me and my circumstances.

To me, 3d world was a pretty well designed game with boring and predictable aesthetics and rigid movement. Odyssey is the polar opposite in some ways. My big complaint about it would be too many moons. i find it a bit scary how nintendo is trying to crank up numbers for their big games. Odyssey didnt need 880 moons, just like BotW didnt need 120 shrines, as evidenced by moons that are just lying there in an open field and repeting the test of strength shrines 21 times. That aside, I think both BotW and Odyssey are worthy contenders for the best game in their respective series

I make game analyses on youtube:

You don't need to do all the Shrines or get all the Moons. Just like at a buffet you don't need to eat ALL the food.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I like Odyssey better. I clicked the wrong choice in the poll, though.

Then it's evened out.

I voted Odyssey when I initially did the poll, but I somehow didn't see the Galaxy option (I could swear it was NOT there!!!!), and I would have voted Galaxy.

I guess it is. Though 3D world, is my least favorite of the options listed, and it's what i checked for the poll.

3D World stomps so hard is not even funny. The only things Odyssey does better are graphics and overall ambition. But in every other aspect, 3D World is a lot better. Level design is better, soundtrack is TONS better, having 5 characters to play as + 4 player co-op > Cappy and everything that comes with him. And post-game levels in 3D World >>>> Post-game Odyssey.
