Its nevertheless amazing seeing a recently new IP take over Japan and outsell a main game in a popular series in Japan on a console that has a higher install base than the Switch. Splatoon is a phenomenon in Japan. How many people thought it was possible back then?

Not a chance. And I say that as a fan of the game (both games, really).

It will pass DQXI on 3DS, and the Switch version of DQXI will no doubt fail to top it, but all three is a pipe-dream.

Right! One of the craziest success we saw this gen and that was on the Wii U. I wonder if Nintendo can make another mega hit.

Well, There are 6 Ps4 games at the moment, and with COD WII maybe 7.

In the top 10 it will enter: Super Mario odyssey and Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon.

Yeah it's still surreal that Splatoon has become so massive so fast, when so many were predicting it would flop because it was a new IP.

Imagine making a thread in April 2015 forecasting that Splatoon 2 would outsell Dragon Quest 11, you'd be called insane.
