This isn't the 6 year old version of it though, it's based on the visually enhanced Special Edition.

Even it's based off the enhanced version, it removes  the most demanding aspects. aside from the better color palette, better textures, high resolution, stable frame rate, it looks like the old versions. because of the loss of volumetrics and distant foliage which were the biggets changes  tot he enhanced version.

I'd say the enhanced lighting model seemed to be the much bigger difference which seems to transfer greatly to the Switch. Those pictures you showed are difficult to compare fairly in that regard since they show different day times and clouds.

Those are pics from DF, they are suppose to be same time of day.

The Switch version still has more foliage and added detail over the last gen versions though. See the additional ferns and mushrooms here for instance:

It also uses the remastered water shaders.

dont get me wrong it's a good port, but the game shouldn't surprise anyone thats its running on switch, especially with the volumetrics and distant foliage being removed. the game is not even impressive looking for 360/ps3.

Oh I wouldn't say I'm surprised it's running on Switch. Given the system's specs, a version that fits about midway between PS3/360 and PS4/Xbone is about what I expected.

All I meant was, saying it should run at max specs on Switch cos it's 6 years old doesn't make sense, cos the version running on Switch is not the same as the 6 year old version.

Seems like all Switch ports are being satisfactory, very good. Let's see how sales fair.

it does make sense though, the xbone/ps4 are just ports of 6 year old games with upgrades, and the most demanding upgrades are removed from switch. with really the color palate, and water shaders being the main difference from the original.

When you list like 6 features with 4 being present and 2 missing I would have to say it's closer to the SE than the original

I think the additional detail in things like vegetation stands out as well:

The last gen version looks rather sparse by comparison, with a lot of empty spots where now there are shrubs/ferns/etc.

everytime I see side by side comparison between consoles and their graphics they just highlight how much i dont really care for graphics past 360 level

Its been a couple years since i last plated Skyrim on Xbox 360.

Booting up Skyrim on Switch, I could immediately notice the difference in tech and quality.

A lot more nice effects and more detailed textures really do pop.

When I played it on 360 I noticed that the game dipped its frame rate almost every time i killed anybody. Seems the rag doll physics were always too taxing for the memory.

ON Switch I've seen very little to no frame rate drops so far, which certainly makes slaughtering bandits more satisfying and magic use less of a game kill.

Really glad they brought to this to Switch.

also...have folks noticed that Nintendo Published both DOOM & Skyrim? I find that curious, though I imagine thats the only reason these games are existing on the platform in the first place.
