So... it's pretty much a placebo effect ..

Pretty much.

Was anyone here expecting EA to let go of all the chips they held in their hands?. These AAA companies set their sights on a dream, and they will do anything to keep a firm hold of it. To them, doing a complete and permanent 180 wouldn't make them more money, so they see no reason to do so.

"So, we’re reducing the amount of credits needed to unlock the top heroes by 75%. Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader will now be available for 15,000 credits; Emperor Palpatine, Chewbacca, and Leia Organa for 10,000 credits; and Iden at 5,000 credits. Based on what we’ve seen in the trial, this amount will make earning these heroes an achievement, but one that will be accessible for all players."

And just like that EA flinched.

buuuut... they lowered all the rewards.. and capped out how many credits you can get per day (saw a video with 'you have to wait 14h more until you can earn more credits)... so.. they are still EA..
Nothing has changed, its the same shit just they wanna skew it to make you think that gamers won this.. we didn't..

I just don't understand for the life of me why so many people are getting upset over the Battlefront lootboxes. Star Wars Battlefront was an overhyped P.O.S. game and got a metascore of 73/100 despite all the marketing. That's only 1 point higher than No Man's Sky.

Complaining about lootboxes in Battlefront 2, is about as silly as complaining about lootboxes in Bubsy. You shouldn't be interested in these games. There are tons of games out this year that are infinitely better than these games. But people simply lack good taste, and want to play their lowest common denominator shooter.

Battlefront 1's score is largely due to it being lackluster in content compared to prior battlefront games. 2 was going to remedy this, as well as have a single player mode. THus people were hoping it would be like it's predecessor battlefront 2. Also no man's sky is over rated. It should be lower than 72

But regardless of review score, fans of a game should be upset with shady practices in their game. Doesn't matter if the game is the last of us or bubsy, people don't want loot boxes.

I used to play TCG or CCGs if you want to call them that. I spend hundreds of dollars, only to get mad that cards were Super broken, or unplayable trash. I was a fan of the DBZ TCG for over 14 years. Looking back I should have just let go after the first year. Even now I think about the game sometimes. Speaking from experience it's just easier to let a beloved game go, than it is to constantly stay mad.

I feel like a lot of people are mad about the lootboxes, but will buy the game anyway because they desperately want to play a Star Wars shooter. All I can say is, don't

40 hours to unlock a hero?  80 hours to unlock Vader and Luke?  And I'm not paying for loot boxes to unlock these heroes early.

I can understand the annyance here, personally I would have preferred if you could unlock them through completing challenges. However seeing as I didn't use the heroes much in the first game, and when Imdid I was terrible with them, I'm inclined to stick to the gunners and ignore the lootboxes as always.

Well, it looks like we may now have a tiny GLIMMER of hope: guess who's being associated with child gambling now?

And let's be honest, the feds getting involved sadly may be our only hope. Or Disney pulling the SW license from EA's grubby mits.

Disney may force EA's hand if the press gets wind of the gambling, but I can still see EA dialling it back a bit, but not entirely.

Disney should honestly rip the license from EA by the end of the year.

People should write to Disney en-masse to revoke EA's license.

Same with all their sports licences. People should write en masse and complain to the oragnizations.

I LOVE ICELAND!

I've hated how microtransactions are preventing me from getting games that I'd otherwise looked forward to and honestly look quite good. The truth is "microtransactions" are almost certainly here to stay; enough people will buy the games, and enough parents will cave to their child's begging and drop cash on the microtransactions as well.

In the end, the CEO is beholden to the shareholders, and the shareholders (justifiably) are only concerned with making money. The mobile market has proven that people are willing to spend a fortune a little at a time that they'd not pay 25% of upfront, and for that reason I can't imagine it's going anywhere.

They have removed the ability to refund it on Origin now, lol

Stay classy EA. Stay classy

Just watched the Jim Sterling video about this....apparently the Refund button is hidden for the game in Origin. You can still get a refund on your preorder through them, but you gotta call and deal with (probably overloaded and grumpy) customer service. Also, despite slashing the prices for earning the heroes, they've also slashed the amount you earn for playing the game dramatically. I'm a big PlayStation fan, and to a far lesser extent a Star Wars fan, but Sony absolutely bid on the wrong horse this holiday IMO.

Yea, already mentioned above. You have to call in and deal with customer service now. Basically they made it hard and annoying, thus most people will just say "f it" and not refund
