Do you ever get bothered by unnecessary sexualization?

Most of the time 10 17.54%

Only if it's for a chara... 1 1.75%

Depends on context and game 25 43.86%

Never 21 36.84%

HOnestly I dont care as long as the design is good, and even then I dont personally see an issue about the points you are bringing.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I'm probably the only person who fully agrees with you here.

I have warmed up to the game a lot more compared to how I felt 6 months ago, but that doesn't change the fact that I will be skeptical about how the game itself is until launch, and things like Pyra's character design aren't doing any favors for me at all.

The weird thing is ... I'm not against sexualization of characters. That whole "you are sexist for liking sexualized women" thing isn't even a concern on my radar.

This though? ... It's one of the rare games that gets on my nerves a bit. She just looks fucking stupid. And hey, I like fan service sometimes. But come on.

I remember all the drama when XCX got censored in the west. And now people want it to be censored? I‘m glad Nintendo of America and Europe decided to keep the game as it is. I rather have an uncensored experience tbh

It bothers me too. Generally, I get the impression that some Japanese low budget games try to compensate for a weak game by having skimpily dressed young girls.

I thought the main character would be the most fanservice, but on a reddit post one blade was this blue girl (looked 15 or younger) and the only thing exposed was her ass. It makes no sense and it actually pisses me off. A character can look appealing without showing her tits or ass.

I'd link the character I'm talking to, but idk how to link images on mobile. Here's the post though: https://www.reddit.com/r/Xenoblade_Chronicles/comments/7bzyts/seori_a_rare_blade_in_xenoblade_chronicles_2/

Gotta love how she's in "the pose", that twist that only women in posters and advertising do to show the important bits off.

Also, unrelated, all the blades are females.  Cause if ya gotta have waifus, why not make use of them by shoehorning them as the blades?

You know what anime is right?

It's simply a Japanese cartoon. When I say 'anime style', I suppose I'm referencing the stereotypical designs people think of when 'anime' is mentioned. Simplified face features, small nose, larger and rounder eyes, etc.

No, no you aren't wrong! I was just saying that yeah, that's the norm for anime styled designs these days. It sells unfortunately. I think it's tacky and tasteless just to have one obvious part of the female body exposed, but hey some people like it I suppose.

And the terrible character designs continue .... ouch.

Isn't one of the blades in the GameXplain gameplay footage a male?

It's confusing because there's a girl that has armor almost exactly the same that's a blade and has booobs ... but the one following him is definitely a guy

Nope, I'm fully with you guys on that.

I just want to put Pyria into some compfy clothes. What she's wearing looks so ridiculously uncomfortable that it actually serves to break my immersion. Especially since they're trying to tell this meet cute boy meets girl story and it breaks the tone for me. (Yes, yes, I'm talking about ludo narrative dissonance...:P)

I have no problem with sexualisation, however ridiculous, as long as it fits with the tone of the game (i.e. Bayonetta) but here it just seems out of left field and shoved in to get a Tharja effect and service the waifu crowd. It doesn't help that the character design is SO bland that Pyrias outfit is by far her most distinguishable feature. To me it completely undercuts, whatever character they are trying to set up for her.

What gets me most are the thong straps though. I think we were all happy that that 'trend' died back in 2005. It's not sexy, it just looks uncomfortable and literally makes you look like a piece of ham.

it is not like female characters fight in bikinis new to the west... i dunno what is the big deal... men in thong however... needs to be promoted :P
