If they make 30M on a year that is about 2,5M per month and you are thinking about 2M of production on their factory instead of like 1 or 2 weeks on it, besides the already normal 1 or 2 months of sale on shipping channel (for 25M sales that would be 2-4M) so we would be talking about like 9M of unsold consoles on a 25M sold year... where does that make any sense?

At the current rate NS is selling every shipment is selling out and that is with them making 14m a fiscal year, 30m made would meet shipping demands and have units on the shelf for people to buy as well as prepare for the increase in demand which games like Pokemon and AC will generate plus at the current state of affairs demand will keep increasing gradually anyway. A lot of the unsold stock you're touting would be sold in Q4 period of the year where demand becomes much higher, 3DS will be phased out next year as well leaving the NS as the main focal platform to push.

Promisse of future sale doesn't justify 1/4 of inventory on the factory and another 1/6 of inventory on ships, that is a lot of cost just to meet some expectations of forum goers based on thin air that it will sell over the double of current year.

Where are you getting this 1/4 and all from these are numbers you're pulling out of thin air here most of what is made will be shipped at most maybe 1m or so will not be come the end of the fiscal year, you yourself are a forum goer so that little rant doesn't do much for yourself Nintendo is going by the way things are going in the market and given the current way things are sales are more likely to increase as new titles approach.

Fact is with titles like Pokemon and Animal Crossing on the way these forum goers have more of a leg to stand on than you at this point.

It seems people still don't realize the possible break-out success the Switch can be in the mainstream/"casual" market. This holiday season will help prove that it certainly is and will be that even further, though.

That lower production rate was not because of a lack of confidence, but rather shortages in parts they couldnt do much about.

And in general,e veryone is reading to much into this, its probably just a PR statement to make shareholders more satisfied. They will probably realistically make 15-20 million units, not much more than that.

That is one narrative. If they planned the release correctly there wouldn't be a reason to not be able to produce more, because even with the analysts puting the other products that affected the components for Switch, they sold dozen Millions, so it wasn't like Nintendo wouldn't be able to produce more if they planned and had confidence.

Nintendo can't make this type of PR because that would manipulate market and stock and is a crime (this isn't a real Nintendo PR), and my questioning is to people thinking it is reasonable to produce 30M planning to ship 20M.

That sums it up. These other products were selling millions, and took a lot of the parts nintendo needed, resulting in shortages. Without any sort of evidence to back up "they had no confidence", I'm assuming youre pulling this out of your ass.

And.....how is this a crime?? Are you kidding me?? Has to be a joke, right??

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Look on the thread for some claims that though it would be reasonable to make 30 to ship 25M.

Because sure 1M on the factory for a 20M sales on the year would be acceptable buffer (plus the 2M or so on the shipping channels).

If some product with the shortages could make 100M sales why couldn't Nintendo do more than 10M on their forecast?

Nope not kidding, if you publically announces 30M forecast while intending to only meet like 20M that is a way to manipulate the market and it's a crime.
