Forums - Gaming Discussion - Prediction: Xbox One X will be an absolute disaster

The One X is just a Console for the Hardcore Fans and Gamers not for everyone. The main Console for MS is farther the One S.

The oneX will sell well for this price.

I find Every discussion is currently meaningless...

yeah sony's the best ever no one will change to xbox, sony has won this generation by a long shot!!! no contest!!! but i still think there is a market for 2 companies in gaming or 3!

I have a xbox one and will get the x1X but I'm an xbox guy so that's a given.

I like to have the best experience 4k curved tv, hi res sound. *yes its called hi res* dolby atmos lol so even for 3rd party games I want the x1x for my eyes to be in constant orgasm!!

Its similar to buying a car. You don't need a luxury brand a base kia will get the job done!!! But some prefer it.
So that will be xbox 1 sales. people who just want the best experience, the luxury crowd.

True, the XOX will be for those gamers who DEMAND the best 4K experience (a console can provide).

I think the 'no gamez' argument isn't really a compelling one. Time and again it's been proven that consumers don't care about exclusives only. Otherwise the One S would've failed spectacularly. There is a market for those that want the option to play the best possible version of games on consoles, and One X will deliver that.

I don't see it being a massive success, but I do see it selling better than the Pro due to several factors. The obvious one being that the jump from the Xbox One to One X is pretty substantial compared to PS4 to Pro and the PS4 line of systems are no longer the definitive consoles for multiplatform games. It makes sense why MS have been blatantly calling it the 'most powerful console'. A huge chunk of PS4 sales come from those that bought a 360 last gen and then bought a PS4, specifically because these consoles played the majority of multiplatform games significantly better in their respective console generation compared to other consoles.

It might not be enough for Xbox's overall sales to catch up to PS's, but it will put them in a much better spot, I think.

Mindshare because of a lack of exclusives are why the Xbox Ones sales have been dwindlng all year. Multiplats wont save them. They need mindshare from exclusive commercialism too ( Commercial identity in other words). The X will sell as intended but wont scratch the s in sales outside of the first couple months when it sells the bunch of people it was intended to reach.

My gut keeps telling me, "Who wants an upgraded version of the same console for ANOTHER $500 dollars.. in just four years?!". Will people reward MS with this kind of money after hitting a dry spell on exclusive content the past year? And then I look at the Wii U to the Switch, and I think it's possible. This industry has proven me wrong before. The price divide may keep it niche, but I also can't underestimate the crowd of people that chase after the newest and best thing. We'll see if this catches traction outside of the Xbox hardcore.

My opinion is no one gives a shit about Microsoft these days.

Definitely this.

That said, don't they have that super popular PUBG thing or whatever it's called as console exclusive? Couldn't it give them a boost?

Really feel like this is going to be the case.
Which would be fine, as this is a console quite clearly aimed at their core audience, if not for the fact that the sales for the S have pretty much flatlined.
I can't speak for everywhere, but by direct experience I know nobody really cares about Xbox here

It will sell really well for the first 6 months, but I expect it to tank around spring 2018. It should have a bigger appeal than PS4 Pro initially though, you have the die hard X fans and you have the multimedia fans who just want the strongest machine with the latest bluray. Some people may buy the X just for the 4k bluray player if it's even slightly better than the S.

It's too late to wage the resolution war in this gen. MS should've delayed the X a year and just make it the Xbox 4 with Vega gpu, 16GB ram and Xbone compat.

Pretty big userbase for a device nobody cares about.

Anywho, I believe the X1X will stimulate sales. People will upgrade, some will buy it simply because it offers the most polished console ports. It will help get the X1 userbase to 40 million faster.

Is it gonna be some huge game changer though? No, not really. But MS will benefit by having the best ports, its a talking point.

Yet they are gradually moving themselves to PC only.  We all know consoles these days are just cheap PCs.  I see no future for Micorosoft in the conosle market.  They already confirmed that with how much dedication they showed with publishing games for their consoles.  They showed as much support as Sony showed with the Vita.

No, Xbox is still very significant when it comes to moving software and frankly MS having a living room presence.

This is a pretty weak year for MS 1st party/published, but they still released notable content and stuff is coming. Obvious sequels coming as well. Xbox can move games so it will get more games.

I think the logical thing to do is basically make Xbox a PC on TV with a console frontend. These devices can share games easily and appeal to a large audience together. Cuphead made that clear so why just focus on a TV box when MS is also the PC OS leader?

Vita died years ago because it didnt move software. Dumb comparison.

it will have a good holiday, and then the Xbox will be back down at it's usual sales level and people will go back to talking about Sony and Nintendo for 95% of the time.
